Hotel Meia Lua — Hotel in Ovar

We stayed here on the 17th september 2012. We had spent a week touring portugal for our honeymoon and wanted to stay somewhere nearer to the airport for our last night. We had not pre booked and found the hotel from the local tourist information. It is not a holiday hotel more buisiness, but that said we really enjoyed our last day/night there. The lady on the reception was extremely helpful and pleasant, although the poor lady seemed to be alone and trying to look after reception and the bar when lead to us waiting 20 mins at the bar before deciding to go to the reception to ask for service, she came back with us very politely and served us. This is not her fault at all though, she can't be in two places at once. The room, we were very happy with, although the air con could have been a bit better. The pool was quiet and very relaxing, were on the ground floor which was perfect as we could come through the patio doors straight to the pool loungers. The price of this hotel was very good and to those complaining that it should not be a four star hotel just think, a perfect four star hotel would cost lots lots more per night than the 50euro for two people including full breakfast, which is what we paid. This is a one star disguised as 3. Description on booking didn't reflected reality. The pool was supposed to be closed from the end of October, I came on Oct 4th and it was already closed besides the 30C temps. The WiFi doesn't work in the room, and there's no Ethernet outlet. The description said the room had a desk and safe. It didn't. It didn't even had a trash bin. Both sink and bathtub had leaking taps. Light dimmers were broken. The only thing working was the air conditioning. I can get by with the old structure, but not without wifi and the pool, without those they can only offer you a bed and a breakfast. My four nights stay was reduced to one. Worst experience I ever had. And still waiting for my refund. Don't...

The hotel is really outdated. The rooms are dirty with mold in the bathroom and airconditioning. The terrace furniture rusted. Breakfast is ok if you are able to choose the items that aren’t stale by being there since yesterday. They seem to want to revive it with some contemporary lounge chairs in the lobby, but that doesn’t make up by far for the room. Personnel doesn’t speak English.
