Estalagem Santo André — Hotel in Póvoa de Varzim

This hotel can divide opinion but it is ideal if you like a secluded location by the beach. Not so good if you want evening entertainment and the opportunity to walk into town to local bars.There is a wooden walkway beside the sea in both directions so if you enjoy walks by the sea you will be happy. The extensive walkway probably makes it wheelchair friendly but we have no practical experience of this. Our room had a spacious balcony overlooking the sea and at night we could drift off to sleep to the sound of the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel was built in the seventies and the wooden finish interiors retain the feel of the time. The reception area was bright and modern and the cleaners were hardworking and maintained the rooms and public areas well. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful but there were times in the restaurant were their need to multitask meant having to rush their service.The food was perfectly adequate, although largely unmemorable, with a choice of meat or fish each evening together with a range of salad and vegetables. Drinks in the bar/ restaurant were cheap and overall the hotel offers...

So this hotel is set directly on the beach, we had a stunning view from our room, the room was outdated and needed some tlc, paint peeling in cupboard, shower not working fully etc overall it was clean. The breakfast which was included had a variety of yogurt, breads, orange juice from concentrated, an un plugged toaster you could use and occasionally the half awake receptionist would ask if you wanted eggs. In all fairness it was out of season and we were some of the only guests in the hotel. There was one polite receptionist and one who clearly had lost passion for the job. When we arrived she said your not due In till the 6th.... it was the 6th. I wouldn't stay here again but it was cheap, the location is a bit out of the way from anything so you would need a hire car. Great hotel if it had some money and mojo invested...

Me alojé aquí con mi pareja un par de noches esta Semana Santa, después de pasar una noche en un hotel maravilloso en Oporto. La verdad que ya no íbamos con muchas expectativas después de las críticas que habíamos leído, pero como nos resultaba un plan económico arriesgamos ;)||||Pedimos una HABITACIÓN con cama doble, balcón y vistas al mar. Fue lo que nos dieron, las vistas y el entorno impresionantes, la verdad...del resto no puedo decir lo mismo. La habitación era muy grande, estaba limpia y el baño estaba reformado, sin embargo el mobiliario de la misma era horroroso, oscuro, de madera y descuidado. Las mesillas a un metro de la cama casi y sin poder moverlas e inexistencia de enchufes en la habitación... Amenities de broma...eran dos mini bolsitas de gel... ||El aspecto general de la habitación es de antigualla total, oscura y rancia, con un toque más moderno y algo de claridad en la decoración ganaría mucho y lo necesita muchísimo.||||Las ESTANCIAS COMUNES del hotel son por el estilo de la habitación, viejas y kitsth, para llegar a la habitación atravesamos un pasillo infinito con una moqueta roja y temiamos que en cualquier momento nos saludase Drácula saliendo de su féretro... ||||El DESAYUNO fue para ambos lo más decepcionante del hotel. Apenas hay variedad y te las deseas para hacer un desayuno un poco completo. La bollería es terrible (y en Portugal esto tiene delito y mucho), el pan está rancio y blandengue, solo hay dos tipos de embutido (chorizo horrible y fiambre de sandwich...). Hay huevos revueltos, café y yogures envasados danone...con eso puedes medio salvar...pero muy triste. Hemos estado en hoteles de 2* con bastante mejor bufet desayuno que este.||||El PERSONAL de recepción es amable, el del restaurante son auténticos fantasmas (para no desentonar), pululan por la sala sin mirarte ni dirigirte ni el saludo...||||Y por último comentar el ENTORNO, muy bonito, vistas al mar salvajes e increíbles. Con buen tiempo tiene que ser una pasada, por que está en la misma playa y además tiene también piscina. Está muy cerquita de Povoa de Varzim y muy accesible para ir en coche a Barcelos, Guimaraes o Braga, cuidades con mucho encanto y que se deberían visitar en Portugal Norte.||||En definitiva, si vais tened en cuenta que es un hotel de paso...para hacer una noche vale, si no eres muy exigente, y no es para nada un 4* (diría que ni 3*), o al menos lo que nosotros por nuestra mini experiencia viajera...
