We stayed here in August this year and loved every minute of it. The hotel is situated just outside the town and you do need a car. Free secure parking within the hotel grounds is readily available, although there is parking underground at a charge of 5€ a night (2019). The location is quiet and the beach is just over the road. The hotel has been refurbished throughout and easily deserves its four star status. We had two rooms with sea views. Both rooms were the same, furnished in blue and white with new furniture throughout. The beds were extremely comfortable, the balcony had new comfortable seats and a small table. The room also had a safe, big enough for a laptop, wardrobe, TV and a coffee machine and mini bar. Several sockets and usb points which were great for charging our phones. The only thing the room lacked was a mirror. The only mirror was in the bathroom. ||The bathroom had a shower over the bath and fluffy towels and free toiletries completed it. The only comment I would make is that the shower screen did not move, you had to climb in the bath on the sloped end, with no grab rail or non slip mat plus where you placed the bath mat, to step out of the bath was exactly where the door stop was positioned. It would be great if someone looked at that. Minor points but you could so easily slide or step on the door stop!||We had breakfast every morning of our stay and loved the choice. Lots of different hot dishes, bread, juice, flavoured water, cakes, fresh fruit, cheese, eggs, meats and hot drinks. ||The bar area, lounge and dining room were lovely. Tastefully decorated and light. The restaurant offered a three course meal for a set price every lunchtime and night. The menu was posted in the lounge area every day. Although we were there high season the hotel had a calming feel to it and did not appear over busy. The swimming pool outside was a great size, plenty of sunbeds available . Plus pool towels and dressing gowns all supplied. We looked at the gym and indoor pool but did not use them on this visit. Staff were always on hand, friendly and helpful.||Peniche is beautiful. The beaches are huge, very sandy (sand dunes everywhere) and the wind blows nearly all the time, perfect for the surfers, warm in August but definitely cooler than the Algarve, if anything a more comfortable heat! ||This was the first time we had visited this part of Portugal and we will definitely return, hopefully next year and...
Read moreThis hotel was renovated last year and it shows: everything in the room is new. Nice subdued decoration, not the biggest but in good condition. Big terrace with sea view is a plus. The hotel is outside of Peniche so it is better if you have a car, but the beach is across the road and the golf course. It was very quiet in the evenings, but it will certainly be different in the high season.||Continental breakfast was ok, with enough choice, and service at reception was friendly.||Minor details: the balcony lights don't have individual switches, they all come off around midnight. I get this is for the general look of the hotel at night when looked from outside, but it would be nice to have a drink in the balcony without the lights on to avoid mosquitoes. The balcony light is not a problem to sleep because there are good courtains inside. The lights in the bathroom could also...
Read moreWe booked one night at this hotel. Although you can see the ocean it is very far from the hotel so not beach front. The room was nice, very clean with most amenities. The bed was very hard so be prepared for that. The coffee and water were not complimentary which surprised me. When we called down for a cork screw we were told they had one at the desk if we wanted to come and get it. So the customer service was lacking for sure. The restaurant was a real disaster. The waiters barely spoke English, and when the one waiter came with the wine he poured it directly into our glasses without having us taste it. He also filled the glasses, literally almost full. He had no idea what to do with a bottle of wine. The food was mediocre at best. My fillet had bones in it and the soup was very bland. The best thing was the view. I would recommend staying in the...
