Portalegre Palace — Hotel in Portalegre

We needed a stop on our trip from Douro Valley to Cordoba and thought this town would be OK.|Rang the Hotel from 2 kilometres away. We were welcomed by the concierge who was very nice.|The hotel greatly exceeded our expectations, Service was outstanding and the breakfast was the very best we have had on the continent.|So ,we just stayed a second night and travelled locally to Marvão a must see. Then we visited the local museum with the tapestry’s amazing.|Enjoyed a local restaurant and that was a great experience.|Thoroughly recommend this...

This is a nice hotel in an older building. Definitely the nicest hotel in Portalegre. We enjoyed the shower and bathroom, and the pool + sauna is quite nice. The bed was very firm in our opinion. The main issue I had here was with ants. There were ants all over certain parts of the room, and after we received some moldy fruit at breakfast, I just felt a general sense of uncleanliness. We had a large room, big windows, air conditioning, great bathroom, firm mattress and everything worked. The pool and sauna are fantastic, the garden is lovely and breakfast was amazing; especially the oysters! But the best part are the staff; friendly, helpful and accommodating!
