HI Portimão – Pousada de Juventude — Hotel in Portimão

Wow! I am so surprised at some of these reviews, our experience was completely different. Admittedly, staying here would not have been our first choice but, as we booked our festival tickets late, options were limited.

We understood that Hi Portimayo is a youth hostel rather than a 5* hotel so our expectations were appropriately managed.

We braced ourselves for a pretty bad experience based on some of these reviews but were very pleasantly surprised in the end.

We stayed in room 111 which was simple but absolutely functional. We felt safe, had working air conditioning, hot water and fresh towels. The room was clean and great value for money, if you ask me.

The communal facilities are tired and simple but, again, let’s remember it’s a youth hostel not a luxury spa.

The only thing i positive was the person at the reception.||I booked a bunk bed in a male dormitory and got one in a mixed dormitory. This is not what i booked and payed for and nobody asked me before if i would agree on that when they made that change. I felt quite uncomfortable since i don't like mixed dormitories. They said that they had no more availability in a male dormitory and for this i will ask to get part of my money back. The bathroom and showers were dirty and a health hazzard. I am a frequent user of pousadas all over the country and never had problems like this. Poor and careless managment. I am sending very explicit pictures of the bathroom...i am still waiting for an answer to my complaint and obviously money back. I will forward this to our health and safety...

The common areas downstairs were large and clean. There's a tv in the living room with movies. The free breakfast was nice with breads, fruits, cereals, coffee, vegetables, cheese, meats, and yogurts. These bathrooms are large but unkept. They were disgusting and smelled bad. You need to hit the water button constantly while taking a shower. The moment you stop hitting the water button,it immediately stops. My room smelled of intense mold. I could barely sleep as a result of the smell. The staff was quite friendly but I would never return due to the horrible room smell and...
