The teachers den We were travelling the Azores this summer and arriving to this camping was a big 'negative' point on it. All the other campings we had visited on the islands were very nice and price reasonable. When we arrived at this camping we were in for a shock. We got treated like little school children, but after a day of walking with backpacks we had no other option to stay there and feel very humiliated! A one hour!! briefing to start with before check-in (you even get a 5 minutes on how the coffee machine works). Oh, and we were lucky we knew only to arrive there after 6h. What you need to know from this place: far away from the village and public transport toilets are NOT cleaned everyday and don't have toilet paper nor trash baskets ( I did find a dirty tampon between the mud in the toilet, bah), woman unfriendly! horrible first reception, disrespectful and unnecessary. If your goal would be to have your ' guest' feel like in a prison by all the roles and threads to be kicked out if you don't follow 1 role, you succeeded. This place is all about the owner, not the guest. If you want to use the kitchen, you need to be with the first lucky 16-18 persons that made a reservation, otherwise, well bad luck and you can leave if you don't like it. You don't get warned about this, so you better ask before going there. if you didn't made a reservation expect an even harder, humiliating reception. price value comparing to the other campings on the islands, very bad, to over prices for the 'nice' service you get. this camping claims to be 'environmentally' friendly, but uses one of the biggest waste producing coffee machines. In the briefing you don't get info about the recycling system, what you would think one would value if you do show of that the camping is ECO ? There are no suggestions to silence hours needer.
What was good: the camping ground - parking spots - the big amount of information about the island and walking tracks - washing place with soap - the barbecue with available wood - the cool watching tower- bread & pizza delivery ones you got the teachers intro and you keep on following the roles, the owner cools down and becomes very helpfull.
We would suggest to at least have someone extra working there, the whole day, so the owner doesn't have to freak out so much about security while he is away and the extra could help with cleaning and check in. We think this could be an awesome place and value it price if it was not for the reception one gets at arrival. I normally don't make reviews, but after camping so much years, never EVER did i...
Read moreIt will be unpopular opinion but I'll take a risk to say: Renato is a nice guy.|But let's start from the beginning.|So when me and my hubby were doing some research about Azores and where to stay, we found this campsite. I didn't read about it at all, I just made a pin on our Google maps and we decided to go there. We arrived after 6pm and got invited in. Renato explained all his rules and showed us camping site. Well, to me it was good because everyone knows how to place works and what to do. There's no such thing as stealing from the fridge etc. Good. The gate was closed for all the time, that have us more safety. We set our tent and went away, then we came back and spent the evening on a kind of balcony, you have to go upstairs on a football pitch and you can see the ocean. Place was pretty peaceful at night excluding some concert/karaoke (?) live somewhere. But didn't really care much as we were pretty tired.|Toilets were smelling nice (yes, really) and showers had a hot water all the time. On our second day we spent a most of it outside the camping and came back around 5-6pm. We spent some time at the reception (many useful tips about travelling around the island) then went to read a book on football pitch. We had some drinks too and Renato brought us some peppermint to add to our drinks. That was funny.|I liked the idea of putting a flag on the roof of the house because of guests' nationality. We've been asked about our nationality and then our flag has been put up along with German, Slovakian and some other ones.|The whole camping site is just wow. For me that's pretty impressive. Football pitch, some mobile houses, tents and even small vans to rent, banana trees plantation and all. I really like the fact of being environmentally friendly with rain water in the toilets.|Well, this camping site is not for everyone. Prices are slightly higher because it's kind of a "posh" camping where you have hot water everywhere, fridges, kitchen, place where you can dry your clothes under the roof etc.|Renato was a little bit eccentric but he didn't do anything wrong to us, he wasn't rude at all. No one else from te camping seemed to have any problems too. When I read all those reviews I didn't know what to say. I was so shocked!!! If I knew, I wouldn't go there and that would be such a pity! Take a risk and go there. You...
