Leiras do Tempo Cottages — Hotel in Terras de Bouro

We recently stayed at Leiras do Tempo Cottages, and overall had a lovely experience. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by two caretakers who kindly showed us to our cottage, Tomadinho 3.

The cottage was very spacious, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed, and then some. The views were beautiful, the amenities plentiful, and the atmosphere peaceful. Each morning, we were also greeted by three very friendly dogs who made the start of the day especially charming. Over time, the gentle church chimes every half hour also grew on us, it became a soothing backdrop to our stay.

Breakfast each day was a highlight: fresh juice, homemade jams, a nice selection of breads and yogurts, and other treats. One of us braved the pool on two occasions; though the water was quite cold, it still added a refreshing touch. A heated pool would definitely elevate the experience further.

We did have a small issue with the (steel) cottage door, which tended to jam when exposed to direct sun, but this was quickly resolved by being given a physical key instead of using the code.

If there is one thing that could be improved, it would be the driveway up to the guest parking. Currently, it’s a bumpy dirt road, and although there is parking near the restaurant (which is lovely!), getting heavy suitcases to the cottage can be a bit tricky as the walkway is steep and uneven.
