I’ve spent here a night with a friend on our way to Lagos on the Trilho dos Pescadores. We picked it because of the accessible price and the great reviews we noticed. Arriving walking from Zavial beach up to this small fraction of Raposeira is the best way to embrace the beauty of the surrounding hills and the small group of houses of Hortas do Tabual. We arrived with our own filled baggage of experiences and impressions gathered in the 10days of walk from Porto Covo, and instantly we understood this was going to be one of our favourite places. Martijn is very kind and happy to welcome you in his amazing house. I personally felt overwhelmed by the beauty of the nature around and the feeling of warmth I had in this place. I loved seeing how some of the other guests were enjoying the common spaces as if they were at their own home. There’s no shop in the small village but in the house a tiny cupboard with all the essential food is available, in exchange of a small contribution. Waking up and enjoying breakfast on the balconies is peaceful and the perfect recharge to embark onto the next hike. Spend some time reading the walls in the bathroom downstairs, you’ll surely get inspired and perceive a sense of belonging with the people who also stayed here. Definitely...

I found this hostel on Google and contacted via email. It was super responsive and informative.
You can also find details but let me sum up. There are two private rooms with their individual balconies and one shared room for 8 guests (8 single bed, not a bunk bed which is more comfortable for everyone) and of course lockers. There are also two bathrooms, shared kitchen, common area and mixture of balcony and terrace. And everywhere is clean
Martijn and Talea was very friendly and helpful. I am glad to meet them.
There are different activities that you can do around the hostel. You can ask them to arrange this activities for you or you can do it yourself, it is up to you.
I suggest you to go there with your/rental car for more comfort. But it is not necessary. Hitchhiking is very welcomed in that district. I spent almost a week there and there was not any place that I couldn’t visit :)
Overall, I strongly recommend all to stay in Hostel on the Hill 👌🏻I am looking forward to visit...

Apart from the great location and own organic garden, the place is clean and has a very friendly atmosphere. This is because of relaxed guests that are coming there mostly to surf and, of course, the great owners Ronja and Martijn that traveled the world in a van and could recommend you best beaches, cafes and other hidden spots that you will not find on google maps. ||Personal tip: join them on Friday for the Pizza party in the mountains and don't forget to try breakfast with jogurt, fruits, müsli and love that Ronja will put there...
