Mantamar ApartHotel — Hotel in Vila Real de Santo António

We live in Tavira and were visiting Manta Rota on our bicycles when disaster struck! Stranded miles from home with a flat tyre and no bike shops for miles and in 39 degree heat! We came across this apartment block and feeling very gloomy decided to chance our luck at the reception and hoped that the member of staff on duty would be able to understand our broken Portuguese and our English and our dispair! Monica, who was working on reception that day, just could not do enough for us. She phoned several taxi services for us to see if our bikes could be picked up - which they couldn't. She then allowed us to keep our bikes on site until we could return a couple of days later to collect them - she then organised a taxi for us to get home. If this is the kind of service you receive by walking in off the street then imagine how fantastic it must be for residents. Incidentally, we had a look round while we were there and it looks a fabulous place. Smashing private gardens with a great pool. self service, make sure you understand lockboxes. theyre in a hallway cabinet about eye level. very hard to see the numbers if your over 50 or use readers glasses . opening the lockbox, you have to push the lever thing hard, yes, you will break your fingernails. just get the keys and leave the damn thing open. i would bring a screwdriver to save your nails.

great patio. if its important, make sure you have air conditioning, i didn't and it was ok, you get the sea breeze. restaurants close st 10pm, some open early close early, i think st 7 am. there is a portable fan.

clean, refrigerator, microwave, silverware cooking implements, gorks knives spoons pauring knife, etc., pots, pans. plenty of storage for food, meat market down the street.
