We recently stayed at the newly opened Rixos hotel on Qetaifan Island for a family staycation. While our overall experience had its highlights, we encountered several issues worth mentioning to fellow travelers:||Room Facility Problems:|-Upon arrival, we discovered a broken electric socket. Thankfully, the electrician promptly replaced it with a new one.|-Despite reporting a broken landline to the reception/IT department, it remained unfixed throughout our entire two-day stay.|-In the middle of the night, a fire alarm in the unoccupied room next to ours went off, causing significant disturbance. Unfortunately, we couldn't contact reception due to the unusable room phone and had to walk to the reception desk to report the issue.||Hygiene Concerns: |During our visit, we were dismayed to witness a fat rat roaming the terrace of the French restaurant, Brasserie. This raised serious concerns about hygiene standards at the establishment.||Our experience also highlighted an overall lack of training among the hospitality staff. This newly opened hotel's operations seemed less than smooth. For instance, when we utilized the in-room dining service to order just one item, it took five staff members on the other end of the phone to understand and process the order. Despite this, the wrong item was delivered to our room. Additionally, during check-in, the receptionist failed to provide essential information about the hotel's amenities and restaurant timings to guests, indicating a need for better training and communication...
Read moreI visited Roxio's Ramadan tent for Suhoor and was sorely disappointed by the experience. The food quality was subpar; both the main courses and desserts seemed as though they had been prepared very early in the morning and reused throughout the service. This was a stark letdown, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan where meals play such a crucial role. In response to my complaint, the manager graciously removed an item from my bill as an apology. While this gesture was appreciated, it didn’t compensate for the overall poor dining experience, especially since I had planned to use Urban points or Entertainer offers, which would have offered a similar financial concession.
Additionally, the staff seemed to lack basic knowledge about the food being served, failing to provide guests with information about the dishes. There were no labels or signs indicating what each dish was, leaving diners to guess. This lack of attention to detail extended to the dining environment itself, which was marred by an uncomfortable number of flies hovering around the food. Despite raising this concern to the staff multiple times, no effective action was taken to address it, compromising the hygiene and overall dining atmosphere severely.
Given these issues - from the disappointing food quality and presentation to the insufficient handling of hygiene concerns - my experience at Roxio's Ramadan tent was far from the festive, welcoming, and delicious Suhoor one would hope for...
Read moreStayed there last month, give them some time. The resort is unfinished, in many ways. Their operations do not run smoothly (at all) at the moment. Examples? Room phone not working, took them 2 days to send someone to fix it. Room service and restaurant staff has no clue how much 2x an order is... Ordering through room service involves staff not understanding you and patching you through a couple of times... Most of the facilities advertised on the webpage does not exist yet: beach club. No. More than 4 restaurants. No. Beachfront villas. No. Free access to Maryal water park. After negotiations. Food in the "french" place was good, although we spotted a rat on the balcony--not finished. First night at around 1:30am, the alarm clock next room went off (and made itself known in terms of volume) despite nobody renting the room. Our room clock was off, but not by more than 11 hours or so. Connecting rooms do not have connecting balconies. And the wall plug for our coffee maker and kettle did not work (as in, mechanical failure). They replaced it on the spot, but then again, technically I did not have a room phone to call them... Give it a fair shot in fall, but our experience has damaged your brand to us, a lot. Don't open if you're not ready. You are not ready. That was not 5 stars, 3 at most. There's potential, but YOU ARE NOT ready to be open. Please, close, get your sh!t together, then...
