Pensiunea Select — Hotel in Alba Iulia

We had a really nice time spending a night in Pensiunea Select. We were traveling through and needed a "last minute" accommodation after our previous one was suddenly cancelled. I would like to highlight the service: all the hotel staff was really nice, kind, and helpful, and they spoke good English! The place itself feels a little retro, with dated furniture and room interiors, but everything was clean and working properly, so no complaints on that front. Our room had a fridge and TV, with separate bathroom, and some amenities provided. The price also included a choice of 4 breakfast menus, which seemed really appetizing and quite rich in traditional calories! :) (I really like retro-ish hotel breakfasts, and this was right up my alley!) Unfortunately, they do not cater to special diets, meaning to gluten free or vegan options are available, but as we were about to find out in the coming days, this can be said generally about the whole of Romania in 2024. The only real concern that I may bring up is that the hotel is at the outskirts of Alba Iulia, and it took a few mins to get to downtown by car. In return, we had free parking at the hotel, and a nice, quiet room, so overall, this is not a real complaint. Short city break in Alba-Iulia. The location is a bit outside the city and you are not very impressed by the road to it. But you will be by the rooms, restaurant and other facilities. It is nice, but with great rooms and comfortable beds. A very place to crash if you want also a decent price. To reach the city is very cheap by taxi. Also the restaurant is very good and it has a good food variety – prices again very decent. Breakfast is pretty poor, but I wouldn’t expect more to be honest considering the price paid for the room. We found ourselves looking for a place at the last minute after changing our travel plans. I wasn't sure about this location, but most other places had already been booked. The location isn't great. It is not in the town, but close to the main road in an industrial area. The staff, however, were friendly and the room was large and clean. The free breakfast was not a buffet (you chose from a wide variety of options), but it was delivered fast and it was tasty and filling.
