Golden Spirit Hotel — Hotel in Băile Herculane

I must begin by saying that the town Baile Herculane as a whole is looking worse and worse with each passing year. The place has a loooot of potential but as usual in Romania, the right measures will probably never be taken.|Hotel Golden Spirit looks amazing on the website, but as I noticed with most of the hotels/houses, the reality is a bit different.|Things I liked:|- even though we had a room(comfort room) on the opposite side of the river, the view of the mountains was magnificent.|- the room was decorated in good taste and with quality products;|-the shower was wonderful and the water got hot almost immediately.|- the bed very comfortable;|- the breakfast was very tasty and bountiful.|- the balcony was big and nice.||Things I didn’t like:|- the balcony didn’t have any chairs.|- the hotel is not clean;|- the compartment under the bathroom sink was very very dirty, full of used roles of toilet paper;|- the sink was dirty and also the shelves in the room;|- we were asked only on the first day if we needed the towels changed and the garbage emptied. It wasn’t necessary on the first day and we said no, but weren’t asked again.|I believe all these problems reside in the fact that there is lack of personnel everywhere and it is hard for only a few employees to do all the work.|All in all we had a great stay and after looking around Baile Herculane, we were happy with...

We stayed in the hotel for two nights in early December 2013. In winter, the whole Herculane spa is dead, looks and feels cold and unwelcoming. The price for the room in Golden Spirit was quite low, 20 euros/night, but also the quality of the services was poor. The first night, in temperatures close and below 0, we did not have proper heating, just a small and powerless radiator, they do not want to switch on heating for just one occupied room. to get warm water one had to leave the tap running for half an hour. the hotel was undergoing reparations and everyday from 8.30 onwards one could hear heavy drilling and other kind of noises. at 9-10 we were out of the room anyway, but when i made the reservation by phone, they could have warned us, or, at least ask us about the hours when we plan to be in the room, some sort of solution. The room ambient was ok, actually this was the strong point of the whole thing, clean and enough space, good mattress and sheets, a desk, small table with small armchairs provided. The personnel was friendly and helpful. All in all, for the price is was not that bad, however, a lot can be done to improve the quality...

A very nice hotel almost on the river Cerna. Clean, quiet, cosy,with big enough rooms and quite a lot of furniture and a maevelous view to the mountains and river. The bed was perfect to sleep for mother and child. Towels, sheets and garbage replaced every day if desired.|Comfort room.|A perfect playground with quite everything for kids, beside the river. |Big swings in the garden.|Very good breakfast, carefully arranged with lots of details, fresh season fruit and sweets, some homemade salads, jams or cakes. Every day something new along with the basics.
