We spent New Year’s Eve at this hotel. It is a bit outdated like all the other ones in this area but it can clearly be seen that they are working on this and hopefully they will push harder in the modern direction.
Likes: Great location - close to train station (4 minutes walk), local shops, touristic sites (Ciucas lake, Saint Ana’s lake - volcanic lake, etc.). Very clean hotel and rooms (except some hair and rust we found in the shower cabin). There are useful things for sale at the reception like tooth brushes, feminine products, etc. Good food but only on 31 December dinner and on 1 January dinner (including dessert). There are a lot of activities plus the spa. The staff is speaking Romanian language as well.
Dislikes: Horrible pillows, highly uncomfortable and only one set of them! The pillows were super stuffed and hard, the head could not sink in them and there was no good or correct position for your spine either. On 30 December dinner there were no soft drinks or alcoholic beverages offered. We asked for an offer from the hotel and travel agencies and none of them mentioned it is not included, they also did not say it is included. Only after we arrived we received a schedule where this was mentioned but it needs to be known before you buy a package. Breakfast had no sweets at all, food was not fresh if you arrived later (this should not matter, if breakfast is available until 10:30 then food should be fresh and refilled until 10:30). There were low quality products as well. Brunch on 1 January had some cookies but they were left dry and they were super cheap… Music on the New Year’s party was not great either and the dance floor was super tight for more than 100 guests. The Spa and pool are subsized for the number of hotel rooms, especially when all the rooms are booked during special holidays.
Suggestions: Please add one more set of soft pillows! Make a schedule for the spa during special holidays in order for all the people to have room and leave an employee to make sure everybody is following the rules (especially the not-jumping in the pool one which was not respected by most of the guests). Add more good quality products at breakfast and something sweet (not only fruits) and try harder to keep the products fresh. Add some Cola/Pepsi in the minibar. Every hotel has it.
Overall we had a semi-pleasant experience and we may...
Read moreJust OK this time... The traditional food and the location were the only good things worth mentioning... The rest... well, that's a long story... The staff are talking with eachother, in front of you, only in hungarian language, which is highly unprofessional in this industry, considering the fact that the national language in Romania is romanian language. The food was really good at lunch and dinner, but the breakfast was terrible, offering cheap and untasty items, and the overall presentation of the food being quite neglected by the staff. The rooms are really very small, with old furniture and appliances, with windows and doors that are not closing properly and carpet not clean in the corners... The air conditioning system is heavily noisy. It does the job, but you need to chose between sleeping or being warm. It's loud in all the rooms at an unacceptable level. The cleaning of the rooms and the replacement of the towels and bed sheets does not happen every day. You can find yourself with the towels left on the floor, and nobody to attend this simple rule of hotel business. When reported the issue, the reception manager chose to argue with me instead of appologising and trying to solve the problem, insisting that cleaning take place every second day... this not being written anywhere. Overall, I do not recommend...
Read moreI give it a star just because the restaurant was clean. We booked a room for one adult and two kids, 9 and 10 years old. The room was very small. I have never seen a hotel room so small before. And it was a room for 3 persons. When I booked the room, it said in the reservation that will be 2 beds, one large, one small. The problem was the small bed. That bed did not belong in that room. It was a folding plastic bed, like the ones you would see in military. How can you accommodate guests in a 4 star hotel in such a bed? 4 star hotel..., sleeping in a folding bed. They put the very small coffee table under the desk because there was no room for it. WIFI was bad also. Even the hotel was almost empty, we were given the room at the end of the corridor, so that must have had some impact to the WIFI. For the kids to play in the evening I used my own phone for internet. The bathroom was also small. There was a shower and a sink, but just a sink, so we had to keep all the personal care products in the room, there was no place to put them in the bathroom. The pool was clean, but they close it second day at 2 PM. Honestly, for 160$/ night you can do much better somewhere else. I just don't understand how this hotel has a 4...
