Sorelo — Hotel in Bascov

We wanted somewhere to stay to break the journey from Sibiu to Bucharest. We chose this hotel as it looked modern, was reasonably priced and looked convenient.||||We checked in quickly and an issue with the aircon not working [they turn the power supply off when rooms aren't occupied] was quickly resolved. There was plenty of parking on site too.||||We were allocated a room at the back of the hotel ie away from the main road and had no problems with noise. We were feeling tired and lazy so decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. We each had a traditional bowl of soup to start which was lovely but had both ordered chicken for our main course. We discovered that both our main meals were not cooked properly - the chips were hard, but more importantly the chicken was raw in the middle! The staff tried to tell us this was the cheese it was stuffed with [it wasn't, it really was raw] and then tried to tell us it was the way the dish was cooked. It was most definitely raw, and in the end they did us a piece of grilled chicken each which was fine. They were apologetic afterwards, but they really didn't believe us for a long time it was raw and kept telling us it was normal for Romanian chicken.||||Also, we appreciate that in Romania smoking in restaurants is the normal, but when we were the only ones in the restaurant and hotel did the hotel staff really have to sit next to us and smoke whilst we ate? Surely there was somewhere else?||||We seemed to be the only people staying in the hotel which made the atmosphere a little odd, and overall the room was reasonably sized, and the room was reasonably priced, but I don't think we'd return here - time to try somewhere...

Absolute terrible experience!|Everything is dirty, no sheets on the bed - if ask for one and you are lucky, maybe you will get - no minibar, no personal for restaurant - the one at the reception is in charge for restaurant too!|At breakfast, I experienced the worst coffee in my life after I waited for it a quarter hour.|The wi-fi is working good, this is the only positive thing about this max. 1 star hotel.|Don't...

Looks good, until you enter in room. No hot water, no bed sheets. Hard pillow. Nasty surprize was the big stain on the mattress. Bad windows...it was too loud being near the street, a cold breeze entering through the closed window. Of course, no heat, air conditioner not working. It was a nightmare. I liked the food, though, which I've eaten before entering the room, otherwise didn't have...
