The worst hotel experience of my life. From the moment we arrived, something felt off. The lobby was eerily quiet, and once we checked in and paid, we were taken to a room on the first floor. As we walked upstairs, we noticed all the doors to the rooms were open – it was clear we were the only guests.
I asked to switch rooms because we wanted a bed with access from both sides. The receptionist, Nico, said he’d see what he could do, as he wanted us on the second floor due to a party downstairs. I asked, “What party?” and he said it was an event at the hotel’s restaurant, located in the basement. He assured us we wouldn’t hear anything.
While getting ready to go to the mall (it was our last day in Bucharest), Nico came up to our room, confirmed it was okay, and said when we returned, our new room would be ready. Before we left, I expressed how worried I was about the noise since we had to wake up at 6am. Again, he promised there would be no problems.
When we returned in the evening, loud music was blasting. Our furniture was literally shaking. On top of that, there were no blankets on our beds, no extra pillows (which I had requested earlier), and I found a cigarette pack just lying on the balcony. I went to the front desk again to complain – they promised the music would be turned off at 10pm.
Back in the room, upset and exhausted, I went to shower – only to discover there was no light in the bathroom. I had to shower using the flashlight on my phone. At that point, it was 9:30pm. I went back downstairs and met the hotel manager. I showed her all the issues. She apologized and said it was a “new team.” I told her that was not my problem. She then said they had blocked bookings on Booking.com because of the wedding – and was “surprised” we even managed to book. Her response? “Shit happens.”
Is that how a hotel manager is supposed to respond?
This was the first time we heard it was a wedding and not just a party. She told us we could leave and get a refund, but what were we supposed to do? Two young women, in a foreign country, at 10pm? Why didn’t she call us the day before to explain the situation?
She also claimed Nico told us about the party when we arrived – which is not true. It was only mentioned after I asked to switch rooms. While in our room, she said we were “exaggerating” and that the music wasn’t loud – while we could barely hear her over the noise.
We asked for compensation or at least a partial refund. She laughed in our faces and said, “If you get money back, will it make the noise stop?” – completely dismissive and disrespectful. She then said she’d give us some money and walked away.
The music didn’t stop at 10pm – it went on until almost 4am. We had a flight at 6am. We were exhausted, wearing headphones to try and sleep. At 3:45am, I couldn’t take it anymore and went downstairs in tears. The night receptionist blamed us and said we chose to stay. There was no accountability, no support.
Eventually, the music stopped at 4am. In the morning, they gave us a pathetic refund of 50 lei – around 10 euros – and again, nobody really tried to help.
This was a traumatic experience. I have never been treated this way in a hotel. Horrible service, disgusting attitude, and a terrible room.
Stay away from this place.
Make sure to play the video at full volume and hold it close to your ear. This is the music the manager claimed we “couldn’t hear” — and yes,...
Read moreI was staying at this hotel between 17 and 27 February 2020 ina business trip. I do NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. The restaurant does not work, I was offered a so-called breakfast, but only at 9.00, in the room I had no fridge or minibar, I had not even a closet in the room, not even a table to eat or work. In addition, in the hallway there was a pink-purple light atmosphere and at the reception was a large poster that said: "Transfer fee 3 hours - 30 lei". Well, what are you thinking of? Not to mention that one night when we came all the colleagues from work we were wished "success" when we enter the establishment... In the very hot room (25 degrees), there is no possibility to adjust the temperature, just opening the window help a little bit. In a word, something other...
Read moreAwesome place! It might have had issues in the past, judging from old reviews... But it is completely different now. All rooms are newly and stylishly renovated, with thick, comfortable mattresses. Our room was very clean, with spotless sheets and towels. The staff was very polite, helped with luggage, issued an invoice, and offered us free water on arrival and coffee in the morning. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood, but no bars or restaurants nearby. Excellent for a comfortable stay and sleep, but we had to go downtown for dinner. Would definitely recommend and...
