One of the better restaurants in Campina. The ribs were not bad but also not great. They were cooked well, but the sauce was not the best. The fish was good, however. On another visit I had the braised lamb with special potatoes. Special potatoes are just roasted potatoes with rosemary. The lamb was tender and in a brown sauce, a very simple sauce not exactly packed with flavour but it did the job, and mixing the potatoes in the sauce was quite nice. The papanasi is the best in town, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I have ordered papanasi here three times and all three were excellent. Coffee here is also good, one of the best places in town I’ve found so far. The cappuccino has a nice creme and they barist the milk correctly, making it a uniform velvety consistency and not foamy or bubbly. They also know how to pour the milk into the espresso and preserve the creme, a skill that’s hard to find in most of Europe. On a business trip this is one of the better places to eat and stay, however, the restaurant ambiance is a little drab, it’s just tables in a boring room. Staff speak a reasonable amount of English.
Edit: Came back another time and had the chicken schnitzel crumbed in cornflakes with grilled veggies and mushroom sauce, highly recommend it, was very crispy. The papanasi again was one of the best I’ve had and again their cappuccino was decent. Very consistent quality would come back. Also it seems they were renovating the main restaurant when I first came, so the drab room was only temporary, the newly renovated space...
Read moreJust came back from a we escape in Campina, being booked at this hotel.||First of all, pay attention that this Hotel Oscar is located in CAMPINA, Romania, and not in Ploiesti, as it is written here, on tripadvisor. ||We've made the booking directly at the hotel, by phone, and everything was more than fine!||The room is huge, having a nice large and comfortable bed, and a large storage closet. Also the bathroom is large enough, with a big shower area. ||||We found both the room and bathroom well cleaned, so no complains :) ||||What they are missing are slippers and better toiletries - the one that they offer now, are not something worthy of a 4 star hotel, ion my opinion; you should take your own from home.||||Pay attention that there is no elevator (it has only 2 floors), and the room is locked with a key, not with a card.||||Breakfast is served a la carte, from a specific menu, the choices are not many, but it is fresh and good. No fresh juice though, but you can order it separately ||(and pay it separately). If the weather allows it, you can serve breakfast on the large and nice terrace they have outside.||||Overall, the hotel is located in a very nice and quiet area of Campina and i definitely...
Read moreIt is the best hotel in Campina, because the other ones are low. The locations is very nice, it feels safe and is clean. The room cost as someone mentioned is the same as in Bucharest. Clen air, green all around and you can walk or run on the green area known as “Muscel”. There are two kind of rooms, the hotel ones and the “pension” ones. Obviously hotel rooms are better. Cost is around 80-90 USD per night (May 2025). There were only 2 hangers in my room, no safe, no bathrobe, no laundry service bag, cosmetics are basic (shower gel & soap). But again, overall is fine and if you come in Câmpina is the best one anyway. The restaurant is fine, decorations are spartan, but the waiters are efficient. Food is fine, the price, again as in Bucharest. The nice surprise is the personnel speaking English (basic but it works). When I’ll be back in Câmpina I’ll stay again here. I just hope they’ll improve the small points...
