A bad experience which left me with a biter taste ! Surely I will never come back to spend my money at this Hotel "Steaua de mare" in Eforie Nord ! I have to mention that I paid almost 1000 euro for an "all inclusive" package a 7 nights holiday for two adults and one child . What happened : On the last two days before the end of our Holiday we went on the beach to enjoy the sun .... The distance from the beach where we stayed and the bar where they served the beer which was included in my all inclusive package (cheap beer) was approximately 200/250 meters. At one point I decided to have some beers .... So because the distance was considerable I thought it will make sense to take 4 beers 2 for me 2 for my wife .... Since my wife was busy looking after our daughter a friend of ours which DID NOT HAVE an All Inclusive bracelet on his hand offered to help carry those Draught beers ( plastic glass beers ).
The hotel manager was in the area watching us .... When we exited the pool bar perimeter I handed two of the beers to my friend to help me carry them and honestly my friend did not drink from them .... Mr. S.C. manager sent two of his employees to chase us and spy on us to see what happens with that beer ... When we reached our beach place I was approached by those guys to fetch to talk with the manager (he did not have the curtsey to call me separately like a good professional to sort things out).
Internal Hotel Rule : A tourist with all inclusive pass is not allowed to offer to another tourist any products that he pay for . Which is understandable and I totally agree
But since he did not drink from them I don't see what is the problem !!!
Result :
My All inclusive bracelet was REMOVED, CANCELED by the hotel manager for the reason that supposedly I broke the internal rule . Of course I explained what happen but he would not have it any other way .... I offered to pay for those beers .... Won't listen
His answer was that he has o box of bracelets from previous tourists that broke the rule and that he has BIG EXPENSES with the beer for this reason. So he asked me "nicely" to hand over my bracelet . He told me that if I want to continue to benefit from my all inclusive pass I have to pay a tax of 150 Ron (Romanian money) at the hotel reception . Another grouse misconduct from him is that he did not hand me any written legal proof for his actions or my actions . Went to the reception .... Explained what happen .... Initially I offered to pay but I asked for a FISCAL RECIPT AND A WRITEN LEGAL REPORT WITH THE HOTEL STAMP AND SIGNATURE for the money that I'm being charged for !!!! I was offered only an regular fiscal receipt which only shows the amount of money (150 ron) and nothing about the tax (fine) like the law in this country stipulates. Second day my dear Wife which is better trained than me in laws of this country talked with the manager brought legal maters in the argument which they did not like and succeeded to retrieve my bracelet without having to pay that ridiculous tax .
In the end : I admit that I have a small part of blame in this whole story but the way that the manager sorted the matter out is totally UNPROFESSIONAL ... HE MANAGED TO RUIN OUR LAS 3 DAYS OF...
Read moreWe stayed at this resort in August 2015.||||1st problem we encountered was of course a parking spot. After “greasing” a nice parking guard we were able to “find” one. ||||So next step on our agenda was to do the check-in. In the reception area we were greeted with indifference, lucky for us the manger was around and it soon fixed the problem and also gave us a nice room for which we are thankful. ||||At this point, we didn’t get the “All Inclusive” bracelets because of the possibility to take advantage of the hotel facilities (restaurant/bars) before the official check-in time. I found this a bit strange for an All Inclusive hotel, specially on arrival when people are usually greeted with complementary drinks and invited to have a snack….||||[The room] ||It had a SPLENDID sea view. No balcony but that’s because they expanded the rooms by closing the balcony, it was not an issue, if anything it was a smart decision from their part. The bed and furniture were also OK/decent.||||Air conditioning and fridge were working normally at “Meduza”, however I heard people complaining about the air conditioning at the sister hotel “Delfinul”.||Room was spacious enough but the walls were thin and you could hear your neighbors when talking and using the bath. ||||[RESTAURANT]||So here starts the “it feels like a job” part. There were queues everywhere at every freaking type of food, even taking a dish had it’s own queue. Now personally I think that the blame here is part hotel management, part people poor education and the fact that the All Inclusive concept is rather new for most guests. So they did what they new best: sit in a line to “not miss” anything.||||Ok! so now that you fought your way and got a plate with food, next challenge: where do you sit? There are not enough tables for everyone, thus you need to organize your family/friends/etc: - one gets in linen on a food queue, whilst another searches for a table and once he finds it, he guards it, because if you did the mistake of leaving the table unsupervised... you might find it occupied by other hotel guest(s).||Once you got your table and your food plates, you get to taste the food and I have to say it is well prepared and I didn’t found anything wrong with it and I'm rather picky. ||||Same I can say about the beer they had, it was good (Golden Brau )and you could also get all sort of branded drinks in the afternoon and evening. ||||[THE BEACH] ||Hotel has a bar on the beach and a LIMITED amount of sunbeds for which you had to get up at around 5:00 AM to “reserve it”, by putting a towel on them. I like to watch the sun rising so doing this was easy, but for most people it was a chore (half-sleep zombie army on the beach -). ||||Honestly I can write about 10 pages about everything that was good and bad at this resort, but I doubt anyone will have the patience to read it, so to summarize:||||- Good: food, beer, room, view.||- Bad: not enough sunbeds; not enough tables@ restaurant; not enough parking spots; uneducated hotel guests.||- Overall: I felt like working...
Read more“A short vacation that turned into a patience test and an empty-fridge experience.”||||I arrived with reasonable expectations but left with a long list of frustrations:|||| 1. Small and uncomfortable rooms||||The rooms are clearly below the 3‑star standard — old, cramped, no balcony, and no space to dry clothes. The furniture is minimal and doesn’t seem well‑maintained.|||| 2. Bathroom issues and barely acceptable cleanliness||||The shower constantly leaked; after each use the bathroom floor was flooded, and an unpleasant odor lingered. Housekeeping is poor — towels and bins are only changed if you specifically ask.|||| 3. Almost useless Wi‑Fi||||The Wi‑Fi signal in the room is so weak it’s practically unusable. Devices constantly lose connection, making it frustrating for anyone needing internet access.||||4. Not enough elevators||||Only two elevators for the whole hotel — expect lines of up to 15 minutes at peak hours.|||| 5. Repetitive, low‑quality food||||In the All‑Inclusive regime, meals are boring and repetitive — the same soups and desserts every day, with little variety. Food quality is disappointing: cheap cold cuts, poorly prepared dishes, and some even caused digestive discomfort.||||On top of that, there aren’t enough clean plates and cutlery. Sometimes you wait up to 30 minutes for a table, and the rules are inconsistently applied: guests aren’t allowed to take food out of the restaurant, yet staff seem to do so freely.|||| 6. Overcrowded pool and beach||||Sunbeds at the pool are taken very early; to get one, you have to wake up before sunrise. The private beach is small compared to the number of guests, leaving little free space.|||| 7. Big gap between rating and reality||||While many booking sites show ratings above 8/10, guest experiences paint a very different picture. The official ratings feel unrealistically generous compared to actual conditions.|||| Conclusion||||Hotel Delfinul falls far short of 3‑star expectations: tiny rooms, unusable Wi‑Fi, repetitive low‑quality food, not enough elevators, and inconsistent service. If you book an All‑Inclusive package here, you might end up with a stress test instead of a vacation.||I would recommend looking into smaller hotels or local guesthouses — you can find cleaner, more comfortable, and friendlier options for the same or even less money.|||| Service and facilities are almost absent compared to the price and...
