The hotel looks situated nearby a lake on the map, but there was no lake - at least none in March - just a little swamp. It is not in the city center. However, there is a shopping centre (Auchan) quite close. ||||As you enter the hotel, an unpleasant smell of food welcomes you. The smell in the room was no different because of the worn out carpet, sofa and armchairs. Although I had a very big and quiet room in the corner, the condition of the furniture was disappointing. ||||The good sides of the room were its size, the huge flatscreen TV, the bed, hot water, and the air condition that heated the room very fast. The downsides are: everything definitely needes renovation, the furniture, the curtains, the whole bathroom. They also should find a solution for the smell. I was on the second floor, and the wi-fi connection was bad as it kept disconnecting. There is no kettle, no safebox, and the minibar is empty. The room was not cleaned in three days except the wastebasket which was emptied once.||||The breakfast needs more variety. There was only coffee and apple tea as drinks for breakfast. Luckily I had brought two teabags from home, and when I asked for hot water, the waiters kindly brought me some for my tea. The restaurant was reasonably priced and delicious enough for dinner. If you are too tired to go out, you can eat at the hotel.||||The meeting room was quite small and very hot without a window. I did not have any chance to choose another hotel since this hotel was chosen by the person who organized the meeting. If had the chance, I would stay in another hotel paying more.||||The staff, everyone in the reception and in the restaurant, were very nice and helpful. I would like to...
Read moreI am a conference interpreter so the past 10 years or so my life has been about travelling. In Romania and abroad. I've seen all kinds of places, from 5* hotels in Poiana Brasov to 2* villas by the side of the road. So far, this has been the worst place I've ever stayed in. Here are the basics: the room stank terribly. Of old dirty people and clothes. We opened the window, a different stench came from outside. We complained, they drowned the room in a bottle of vanilla scent, making me sick and dizzy. There was a couch in the room, it looked like a piece of props from a B rated horror movie - the one on which they kill the prostitute. There were stains of mould and grime around and in the shower cabin. The glasses were, obviously, stained. The towels and bedsheets were clean, but probably due to our repeated complaints we were punished so they did not change the towels for the whole 3 days we spent in that hole. Poor breakfast. When we asked for a fork, the waiter suggested to find one that hasn't been used on one of the tables. No coffee, milk gone bad. To top it all, there were some highschool students staying there. They turned the whole place into a dormitory - shrieks, laughs, running along the hallway, the whole package till 3-4 a.m. We tried to reason with them, but the receptionist did NOTHING to stop them. Not once. Also, she failed to mention the weekend parties held in the restaurant under our room. When we finally moved, she kept frowning, not understanding...
Read moreWe got "upgraded" from hotel Flormang 3* to the nearby hotel Royal Flormang 4. In reality, Royal Flormang does certainly NOT deserve 4, and it might be 3* at its best. The really really really bad point is that there is no air conditioning in the room. Yesterday afternoon (28/06) it was 40 °C outside, 35 °C inside during daytime and 30 °C outside, 25 °C inside during the night. In my opinion the problem was not with our room, but it is everywhere. We slept with the windows open, but this meant that we had sun and trolley noise starting from 5 AM. I chose this hotel based on the reviews on Booking (that are far better than those here). My hypotheses are that either Flormang 3* is better than Royal Flormang 4* (I cannot say anything on the other building), or that those reviews are simply fake. The hotel is really bare minimum. There are posters and flyers that advertise that it has been financed by EU Funds, so my guess is that they built it with limited own funds and had to cut corners somewhere. There is more in this bad bad experience (luckily I stayed only one night), but the short version is that I will never stay there again and I definitely would not recommend it...
