This is a regular and plain camping site, but they overcharge you just because they call it “glamping” We booked a tent for several days. I don’t know if it was just my tent or all of them, but we didn t have any pieces of furniture aside from the beds and the fireplace. So the pictures advertised are not accurate. The tents ARE NOT IDENTICAL as advertised on the website. For about 4 days my clothes were scattered around the tent or in my luggage. Also, there was no place to hang the towels or bathrobes, not even a waste basket for our trash. You have to start your own fire to keep warm! We had to wake up every 2 hours to keep the fire going. I could not rest AT ALL as I was stressed most of the night because if the fire stops you need to restart the process from scratch. I m not a professional when it comes to it, so this was a massive issue for us because most of the time there would be a lot of smoke in the tent. As you can imagine, when we finally left, the smell on our clothes and everything in our luggage was unbearable. BRING YOUR SLEEPING BAGS as the fireplace is not enough to keep you warm. Although they don’t really advertise it or mention it on their website, the bathroom is shared and we had to walk aprox 50 meters uphill. During our stay it rained a lot, so it was really unpleasant to walk through wet grass, mud and so on, just to go to the bathroom. Needless to say that during the night reaching it is really difficult as there is no path, no marks, no lights, NOTHING to guide you. there are no plugs in the tents. We could charge our phones only at the restaurant, which is uphill, right behind the bathroom. The restaurant has no windows and is not heated so during meals I would rush to eat because it was so cold. They said it was because of pandemic regulation but it was really a cheap excuse: they could have brought table heaters like in a normal restaurant with terrace or they could have brought our meals at the tent. They said they would do that but it never happened. Although I was the only person in the camping site they would not open the sauna (I was really cold and wanted to warm up) because it was against the pandemic rules. But they had no problem in letting 3-4 people at the same time in the hot tub. Also, water at showers was barely warm. Only at night you would have hot water. Dinner was tasty. But for breakfast the choices were limited and tasteless. For lunch we had scraps from breakfast although they said they would prepare sandwiches to go as we were away during the day. During our stay we would give the owner feedback but she was taking our comments really personal and would give an explanation for every little thing, rejecting our opinion. At dinner the owner would come to make small talk with us and other clients present at the restaurant but there is very little she could do to compensate for comfort and bare necessities. Also, she was mostly annoying and I could not enjoy my meal with her on my back. I literally cried at the end because I was exhausted and the entire experience was AN ORDEAL. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE because of lack of comfort and high prices they charge for absolutely nothing. They are selling an idea, a concept which is far from the reality they offer and for which they charge obscene amounts of money. I seriously doubt the authenticity of the...
Read moreAfter a long debate, we've decided to finally rate our stay at Ursa Mica with 5 stars. We have read most of the reviews and we do agree to some of the negative ones to some extent, BUT the experience is totally worth it.
Ursa Mica is the perfect, unique place for deconnecting yourself from everything in your life for a couple of days. Our stay was for two nights and although it is clear that the stay was expensive, we totally recommend it. The resort does not just offer you a special place for acommodation, but provides you with mediocre, but tasty, traditional food, excellent service and an overall special experience. The surroundings are superb and we cannot stress enough on the unique glamping experience, right in middle of the Piatra Craiului mountains. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful when we asked for indications and recommendations on trips and places to visit close-by. We agree that it may be complicated to set up the fire by yourself, but in our case, the staff was more than happy to come and help us every time we needed to light the fire.
When it comes to the tents, they are very rustique, quiet and warm. The fireplace is extremely relaxing and helps create a cozy atmosphere. Also, going into the traditional jacuzzis (ciubăr) made our stay complete and we'd totally recommend using them during your stay.
The staff was friendly enough to allow us to have dinner after the fixed hours, recommended us wine, told us where to buy more of the traditional cheese and meats they were serving straight from local producers and even asked us if we wanted more of the food, after every meal.
We also acknowledge there are some negative parts. The two other beds from the tent that we were not using, have not been made or cleaned. The food has a lot of room for improvement, but overall, it's filling. The overall price is way above average for a glamping resort. In one of the days, the water in the jacuzzi was not particularly clear. There are not clear instructions on the website that tells you how far away the tents are from the bathroom.
Despite all of this, we are rating Ursa Mica with 5 stars due to the overall experience and how special the place is. We are looking forward to come back and will recommend the resort to all of...
Read morePros: Hosts are very pleasant, both owners and employees. Warm, friendly and open to feedback. Food was very good with tiny taste related issues on my part, but very very well cooked. Location is unic and the view, both in daytime and nighttime is from a fairytale. The beds are extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. Everything looked clean and the feeling was the same...I did not use professional tools to check for issues, but nothing caught my eye. Employees were using gloves for all activities, tables were clean, tents were clean, everything smelled fresh. At the end of our stay, both adults and kids had smile on our faces and you could tell we had a great time overall.
Cons: The stoves in the tents are a little small. I have a strange sleeping habit so it was not too difficult, but for a normal person I imagine it would be difficult to wake up every 45 minutes to put another log in the stove or let the fire die. On the same topic, the logs were a little damp and it took a while to light up. Stove could use a fire-iron, so you can easily manipulate the logs. Judging by the fact that toilet and showers are outside, the location includes hot-tub and sauna, single use slippers, for each person, per stay, should be included.
Please all take into account the following: this was my own personal opinion, based on my experience and compared to other places I have visited read their website, rules and regulations and set your expectations: this experience is not for everyone; if you are not able to start a fire and maintain it, maybe try it in the middle of the summer comparing what i read before booking for my family and what i found, I can say some things improved in time, so thumbs up...
