Pity for the pool and parking lot, the rest needs a HUGE change !!||When I booked I asked the cheapest room (200 lei) because I was planning to oversleep here on my way to Serbia. The room is very small, the bathroom has max 3m2, the Tv is placed on the nightstand on the left side of the room (how we were supposed to look at it???? ), the toilet was in front of the shower (my cousin-he is fat- could not get to it), the fridge was stinking ( vinegar ) and had hairs in it (probably was ''cleaned'' with the same cloth as the bathroom. We asked for another room. They gave us one with the view (220 lei). It had spiders in the bathroom, the curtains were broken and the balcony was 0.3m x 1.5m (room 2, near the reception).||While we waited for the room, the OWNER (sitting on the second chair in the reception) spoke on the phone with her accountant about what problems were discovered by a state control official that left just before we checked in. I don't dare to tell you what kind of deep ... they are in.||Everything is overpriced !!||From 5 things I ordered, 3 they didn't have: rice, coffee and pickles. Why they have it in the menu?!?!?!||Breakfast was included: 3 type of eggs or milk with cornflakes. Since they didn't have coffee, my tea came in one of STAFFS' cup (it had marks of previous tea and lemon pulp on it), the spoon had a sticked dead fly and half of toasted bread was fresh and half cold - remains from what the staff ate in the morning.||The terrace and the tiles around the pool were very dirty. All the time some cables and a pump were thrown near the pool. ||Wi-fi was working from time to time only in the lobby.||The guy that serves in the restaurant is also preparing the food without cleaning his hands after smoking, yuckkkk!!!||For a 4* pension this is not...
Read moreVery impressive facade, very impressive foyer and very impressive location. That's where it ends. Issues I had as follows:||||I was given a lovely room with a view of the Danube, and was excited to settle in. As I was getting ready for bed & lowering the shades, a large spider ran out ..... I HATE spiders. Luckily my friend killed it for me as I definitely would have left otherwise. I did a look around the room as I was nervous that the big guy had friends, I found webs & bug remnants in obvious areas (corners, under the heater etc) it just made me feel the room was dirty, like it hadn't been cleaned properly...if it had, there wouldn't be a bug problem.||||Promised wifi = nonexistent. ||||No extra blankets in the room. I had to chase after someone as reception was unattended. When someone finally came, he simply said 'sorry. We don't have. Use the heater'. Ummmmm..... What??||||There were other issues, but they're fairly minor - frayed towels, very poor shower head (old looking - looks dirty), bedside lamps that are built into the bed head weren't plugged in so I had to call reception to shift the bed to plug in.||||I personally wouldn't...
Read moreI was absolutely terrified going to this hotel after reading the reviews here, but it was the only nice place with vacancies as booked last minute. ||But to my surprise it was good , totally fine. The rooms very very large and looked good. Yes the bathrooms could do with an update and could be more clean, but remember where you are : you will struggle to find a real hotel in the area as most are just regular houses turned into B & B's. Our group got rooms 11 & 12 which had massive balconies and the view in the morning was breathtaking, you could have easily thought you're abroad. All the staff we dealt with was lovely. Breakfast was ok but eggs way overcooked - think brown crispy edges. ||All in all, a lovely stay and I would recommend it to friends. ||PS: the alternative and competitor of this is Septembrie located not too far. Their outdoor spaces are much cooler, but Ancora's balconies still...
