The hotel is in a good position in the town which is very pleasant to walk around. There are several shops, bars and cafes with some lovely architecture. The hotel itself was quite basic. Our room was classed as a superior double. Superior it was not! It was a reasonable size with poor decor and very basic furniture. The bed was very low with a very thin and poor mattress and only one thin pillow per person. There was no air con at all or no fans and therefore the room was uncomfortably hot. There was an external door that opened onto a communal balcony. The lock/tilt mechanism was faulty and according to reception could not be fixed so the door had to be either fully open or shut. As it was so hot we had to sleep with the external door open but we were informed this was safe!! When we checked in we found that the lights in the bathroom and the entrance hall were not working but in fairness this was rectified when reported. ||The room was clean but we found 2 empty beer bottles in a cupboard left by previous occupants. The bathroom was very pokey with a poor shower over the bath. This was very high to get into and out of which could be an issue to some. ||The decor of the hotel in general is very plain and basic with photos of young women in varying poses adorning the walls which were a bit strange. Apparently they are all local girls who have graduated from college. ||There is a restaurant in the hotel and an outside courtyard in which to dine. The breakfast included in the room rate was edible but a very limited choice. ||The staff were generally courteous...
Read moreWe stayed at the hotel for a week in late August. The location is great, just a short walk to the main town square and shops. We had a room with a double bed and a separate sleeping 'nook', more like a cave which was nice. ||||Pros:||The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and clean, if somewhat basic. There is free parking right next to the hotel. The included breakfast buffet had a reasonable selection and was tasty. Excellent restaurant for lunch/dinner. ||||Cons:||Lacking basic amenities in the bathroom such as a shower curtain and adequate soap/shampoo. We had to buy our own. There is no air conditioning and our room was uncomfortably warm at night. Since our room was facing the street we couldn't open our window at night. This meant some nights where we did not sleep well. It gets hot in Romania in the summer and lack of A/C is odd. The free wi-fi was awful and continually dropped connection in the room. The connection was much better in the restaurant and lobby. ||||Overall we were happy with the hotel but would not stay there again in the summer due to lack of air conditioning. A bright spot was the restaurant. The food was so good (and inexpensive!) that we ate there almost every night. They have delicious local Hungarian specialties as well as more standard offerings. Recommended even if not staying...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences I ever had in a hotel (four star hotel) ; the view is nice, fresh air, but the services are below 2 star standards and they are expensive. I got out of there with digestion problems and I dod not recovered yet. |The rooms are highly unsafe, electric cables everywhere, rotten wood, no water pressure in the shower, alterated foods, mold inside "mini bar" no towels, no hair drier, oldest features ever seen, the door it is not locking, and also highly dangerous for young children, the balcony is a common area with the other rooms on the same floor and also with the public area. Take note and don't bring family in this kind of place. Also, nobosy there speacks Rnglish or Romanian...only magyar....despite the fact...Hungary is far away from there, also they don't give recepit for goods you buy (drinks) only if you ask...
