In May, my wife and I embarked on a magical journey through the enchanting amusement park The Story of the Calendar in Porumbacu de Sus, Sibiu County. Our adventure continued as we visited Complexul Turistic Brândușa in Valea Avrig. The route chosen by our bus driver led us through picturesque fields, valleys, hills, and forests, passing through the historic town of Avrig, which was first documented in 1346. The journey itself was a scenic delight on a charming, narrow road that tested the skill of our bus driver and offered glimpses of Romania’s natural beauty. The complex offers various services, including horseback riding, accommodation, and dining at its restaurant. We enjoyed a delightful lunch at the restaurant, which was built entirely from logs in 2017. The restaurant features rustic wooden furniture and decor, a relaxed setting, and soft lighting. The large windows provide plenty of natural light and offer beautiful landscape views. This rustic venue provides a location for celebrations such as engagements, weddings, baptisms, and other special occasions away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Our pre-ordered meal included vegetable soup, grilled pork chop with potatoes and salad, and pancakes with jam, ensuring we didn’t have to wait long to be served. After lunch, we headed to the Brândușa Equestrian Center. On our way, we befriended a friendly white dog. The center boasts many horses and caters to competitive and leisure riding, including horse-drawn carriage rides. The snow-capped peaks of the Făgăraş Mountains framed the lush green fields where the horses grazed. Nature creates a stunning contrast against the deep blue sky. The rugged terrain and sharp ridges of the mountains add to the dramatic scenery, making a breathtaking background. The horses, curious about our presence, mirrored our fascination. The world of horses is beautiful, requiring patience and dedication. As a child, I was afraid to approach these majestic creatures, intimidated by their size and strength. Initially, I touched a horse’s head with trepidation but soon found myself gently stroking it, enjoying the connection. However, I recall Rebecca Carroll’s quote, “A pony is a childhood dream. A horse is an adult treasure,” which resonates deeply with my experience. The more experienced riders in our group opted for a horseback ride, showcasing their skills and confidence. Complexul Turistic Brândușa is truly a haven for adventure, nature, and horse lovers, offering a memorable...
Read moreWe paid an entrance fee of 60 lei per person. We were not told that the kitchen close to the pool was closed today, nor that it was almost impossible to eat an ice cream (because the ice cream box was almost empty). The standard of hygiene in the bathroom, where the showers and toilets are located, is very unkempt. Huge puddles of water and bird shit everywhere from the swallows nesting on the ceiling in the bathroom. The toilets are not cleaned, the women's toilet paper is empty. Nobody cares. You can't lock the toilet doors either. (Where is the privacy?) In the wooden enclosure changing rooms, you really have to be careful not to injure yourself on the protruding screws. The fastening of the stainless steel partition between the deep pool and the children's pool should be checked. The threaded pins are sharp-edged and children can injure themselves on them. The water is milky (not fresh) despite the small number of guests. We were there once, but everything looks scruffy. The cushions on the chairs are filthy. (Need to be cleaned)
