Pensiunea Elena — Hotel in Putna

We were in Putna for one night and hadn't booked anywhere. There was a large symposium on at the monastery, so it wasn't possible to stay there. We checked out a few pensiunes and other places we could have stayed, but none appealed, and it was dark by the time we pulled into Elena's place.

The first brief exchange with Elena was enough to convince us that her pensiune was the right place to stay, and we weren't wrong. We'd driven a long way and she possibly sensed we were tired. She suggested where we could eat dinner, we returned and slept well and the following morning she made us breakfast of coffee, bread and jam and apples and pears from her own garden – all of it was delicious.

That was it really. Her pensiune was perfect for us: clean, comfortable, with an excellent bathroom, and Elena was a kind and informative host. I'm writing this having just eaten the last of the apples and pears Elena gave us when we left. Looking at some of the other reviews makes me wish we'd...
