Pensiunea Marinela — Hotel in Sighetu Marmatiei

It was a Saturday in August – peak tourist season - and all the hotels in Sighetul Marmatiei were booked. I found this place, essentially a guesthouse, searching on line. I called and they told me that there was one room available. It is a bit out of the way and you need the help of a GPS to find it. I almost changed my mind when I arrived at the end of the paved road (actually, the unpaved part is just couple of hundred yards) but the alternative – to drive to another town late in the evening was not too appealing. ||||I pulled into the courtyard of the house looking for a reception but instead from the kitchen came a woman festively dressed in the traditional attire of Maramures, and she showed me the room. The room was cozy and private and gave you the feeling of being the guest of the house. They had a restaurant as well and she asked me if I needed the dinner. I did not but then she asked me to come to the dining room anyway because they had a folkloric show. The show was quite good. I was in a party of 3 friends with our romanian guide.The owner,Marinela, could not have been more welcoming,providing us with breakfast more suited to our asking-fried eggs,toast and coffee rather than traditional fare.||The rooms are comfortable, staff pleasant and adequate car parking.||A 5 minute drive into Sighetu Marmatiei if you want to eat out.||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||was a party of 3 friends with our Romanian guide.||The owner,Marinela,could not have been more welcoming and went out of her way to provide us with our requests for breakfast more suited to our liking-fried eggs,toast and coffee.||The rooms are comfortable,the staff pleasant and car...
