Hotel Select — Hotel in Slobozia

While rooms or bathrooms are not that large (the old Communist era building surely has its say here), this is a very good proof that an excellent management can turn an awkward property into a brilliant one. Staff are always there to serve and smile, communication is next to instant, there are always solutions to everything. Rooms are impeccably clean and, while this definitely is a 3* property used quite a lot by transit travellers, it could teach a lesson to several 4 and even 5* hotels elsewhere in the country. While the parking is quite generous, the fact that the hotel lies in a quite busy square with residential blocks around makes it hard to sometimes find a parking place. Other than that, pretty much everything in town, from the hospital and the bazaar (around the corner) to the main avenue (a 5 minute walk) lined up with restaurants, shops and offices, is in hand at a short walk. Hotel under renovation. Which starts at 07:30 no matter what. Couldn't get a good sleep after late arrival. Bathroom too small. Pillows old very old low light in the room. Breakfast ok but full of builders until 08:30. Go after this time. No dedicated parking for guests. Local Party's in the restaurant during weekend so prepare to party together till 3am. For a 3 star hotel it is the best in town. However, if they want to improve their services they can pay more attention to bathroom cleanliness and some upgrades. Since my last visit some fixtures have deteriorated a bit, rust has formed on some parts. The catering services are impeccable though. The check-in procedure was fast and easy.
