Pension Poiana — Hotel in Strâmtura

13 English walkers booked this hotel for 4 days. It was a fantastic place where we were looked after my Mioara and her family - husband, motehr, grandmother and little daughter plus Elena the cook!.|| Glod is not a place you would expect a hotel of this quality, but within this traditional and very frriendly Maramures village lies the Pensiunea in Poiana. We came on the train and were met by a taxi at the nearest railway station Viseu de Jos however Glod is accessible by car on a tarmac road 7km from the famous Barsana monasteries. ||We took the half board option and the food was very varied and excellent - especially the soup to start with. Everything was home cooked and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble for Miorara. She said she didn't speak good English but she actually could speak very well and understood everything.||The bedrooms were modern and the best we had stayed in during our holiday in Romania. Good hot showers and comfortable beds.||There is a play area for children which we didn't use, but the table tennis table came in handy . There is a small swimming pool which didn't have any water in.||As English and one German walkers we are of course fixated by maps and finding paths but we managed 4 delightful walks in the area.||So we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel which is in a remote but beautiful part of...

I have spent New year’s Eve in this location and was really disappointed. The rooms were very different from the pictures you see on the internet, they were very small, and the bathrooms contained in 1 square meter the shower, sink and toilet. They also need to be isolated as we were able to hear any type of noise on the hallway like it was next to our ear.||We were also disappointed with the food as it was not very well cooked and also fool of grease, or bought form the shop in the village (the cakes).||The feeling we got is that only the profit counts for them. ||As examples we had cases when we had some cream at the table with the soup, and when we asked for another one we received a more diluted boal of cream. Also you would see the same cold dish over and over from the breakfast to the New Year’s Eve diner again because no one would eat it. The New Year’s Eve meal had good dishes like “sarmale” but also bad ones like the stake which could not be eaten. Although the package said we would see traditions from Maramures county I have not seen any such traditions, not in the food and for sure not in other activities. Am fost intr-o tabara scolara si pot sa zic ca aceasta pensiune nici o stea nu isi merita,adica sa ai WC-ul in cabina de dus mi se pare "animalic",nici in inchisori nu am auzit sa existe asa ceva,iar dupa cateva dusuri cabina s-a inundat,iar WC-ul s-a infundat in ultima zi+plus ca s-a stricat si dusul.Sa nu mai zic ca furnicile,tantarii,etc erau langa tine in camere absolut mereu.In fiecare camera nu puteai gasi un televizor care sa nu fie fabricat in anii 2000+,adica totusi in 2017 sa ai astfel de televizoare dupa parerea mea e penibil.Leaganele de acolo de abia se mai tin in picioare la cat de ruginite erau lanturile,sa nu mai zic nici de locul de joaca care acela era "vai de capul lui" astfel in cat nici nu te puteai da intr-un leagan cu frica de a nu iti rupe ceva.Piscina arata in ultimul hal,crescand iarba pe fundul ei,iar apa exagerat de murdara,nici nu stiu daca a fost vreodata schimbata.Cat despre mancare,i-as acorda nota -25,deoarece ciorbele erau foarte acre,intr-o zi ne-a fost servita o friptura de porc foarte uscata la pranz,iar seara ni s-a dat o ciorba de perisoare,perisoarele fiind facute din resturile de la friptura mentionata anterior si multe alte lucruri de genul.Sa nu mai zic ca singura "sursa" de apa era dintr-un dozator care arata de zici ca e luat de la mana a doua iar paharele din el cand se terminau erau luate din gunoi,apoi spalate si puse la loc si tot asa.Sa nu mai zic ca patronii erau sub orice critica,daca pot spune asa.Mai exact la plecare lipseau 2 prosoape pe care ne-au pus pe toti sa le platim avand pretul de 30 lei UN SINGUR PROSOP+alte stricaciuni minore care se puteau repara foarte usor.Deci mai pe scurt patronii ar face orice si pentru cel mai mic leu.
