Located on the vibrant main square of Turda, the Hotel Palace has a prime location. The lobby is sumptuous and leads one to believe the rooms will be too. That is not so, at least rooms on the top floor. I had room 11 on the top floor with two small windows looking onto the square. Because of the roof line, you can not get close to the windows unless you crawl. The room appears decent size, but the ceiling is too low in much of the room to use. It was nice and clean and very new. Fixtures were low-end and will not wear well. There was no toilet paper holder, no towel racks, no bed side lights, no WiFi. In fact the room was so small that one side of the double bed was against the wall making it impossible to get out unless you crawl over the other person. Furnishings were spare. Read moreThe guy at reception is a con artist - watch out. I asked if there were any rooms? He asked if I’m in the US army? Random question but anyway. He said there were no available rooms. I check at that moment on Booking website and there is a room for 300 lei. He then takes it off the system and tells me the room is now available for 400 lei. Seriously…do not go anywhere near this guy…and, besides, his loss of custom anyway...
