We booked a Provence room based on the website which showed an amazing open view across the shaman rocks. Instead, we were given a room with barely any view - it was a completely different room. When we questioned it, they said that Provence was just a “type” of room and there were several Provence rooms. We asked for a discount which they gave begrudgingly. The wifi was not free in the room, the common area wifi rarely worked. Booking tours was haphazard - we tried to book a tour via email before we arrived but were told just do it when we arrive. However by then the tour had booked out. We tried to book on the spot for the following day but they told us to come back the next day. Luckily it hadn’t booked out again! The included breakfast was fine - eggs, pancakes, kasha, fruit, tea & coffee, and the kitchen staff were friendly. There is a swamp in the middle of the “village” of rooms, they call it “the romantic lake” - if green slime and cows is your idea of romantic then you’ll love it! If the price was cheaper, I would have given a higher rating as the room itself was fine - bed was clean, room was still large, bathroom functional although the shower head was broken and would not stay up and the bathroom floor quite dirty with hair etc. We had dinner in the bistro one night and it was chaotic with forgotten dishes and long delays. We did hire some very good mountain bikes there though, and the massage lady is fantastic (book directly with her...
Read moreWe had booked 3 months in advance the Provence room from the website. Arriving we checked in, reception did not mention anything special. Arriving in the room it was not the one from the website. We asked reception who informed us that the room did not exist anylonger, we were given the mini Provence (which was very different and nothing called a view anymore) but no price reduction. We asked to speak to Nikita, who told us there were problems with tubes. 2nd version of the facts. Reality was that they had a person in this room but they would never acknowledge officially. As it was the door next to our room we found out easily. Everything can happen but lying to customers is a never to do, we got a small discount after big discussions. After that they screwed up our banya booking late by 1hour, food is same everyday and not tasty. Another big one to mention, they are the only ones who charge you to be registered. After 10months living in russia, i know they should not charge anything for this. I felt they were stealing money from all foreigners as if all travellers had pockets full of money. People i met where staying in a charming guestroom with decent prices and staff was super nice. So take away. Do not stay at Nikita’s it has not grown up to the standard of its...
