I tried to like the hotel. But there were several instances that just did not allow that to happen. When I checked in the young lady was kind. The room was ok, the linens were bleached, and the towels probably haven’t been changed in a while. They weren’t dirty per se, but they were dinghy. The room did appear clean though. Ok, that was night 1. The next day I went out, came back in after seeing the city. The young lady at the desk was kind of rude and flippant. My tour guide asked her abt menu options. She pretty much said the Menu is in the room, she can look there. The tour guide told her she’s here now, at the desk, can you show us? The menu was sitting right there. I only eat seafood, and the menu was in French. We just wanted to know my options, just in case I’d have to go outside the hotel for food. We had a driver waiting. So me running upstairs just to look at the menu while there was one at the desk didn’t make sense. |When I’m preparing to check out, I’m packing my things and noticed 2 brand new brassieres were missing. They cleaned my room on Saturday. Usually I don’t like staff to enter my room, but I forgot to hang the “do not disturb sign”. I do this everywhere, so Senegal was no different. Sunday I hung the sign, after I realized they were in my room. My luggage was packed, except for what was hanging in the closet. So I knew someone went through my things. |I told the young lady at the desk that 2 items were missing. She told me, this is not possible, and if the cleaning ladies find anything they bring it to the desk. I said I understand, but I’m not crazy, I know what I packed. They were matching sets. I’m here for my birthday, there was a lot of thought put into outfits and such. She told me she’d find out and would get back to me. |My tour guide continued the conversation through WhatsApp but gave the wrong cleaning day. Because the day was wrong, they pretty much told her they’ve never been accused of stealing before and that I was lying. When she messaged them with the right day they ignored her. Very unprofessional. I...
Read moreI am currently staying at this hotel and I’m very disappointed. There are all these rave reviews about the breakfast at the hotel, but it is just okay. The restaurant does not open in the afternoons so if you just want to relax and not go anywhere...forget that. There are no major restaurants or things to do around the hotel so you will have to go elsewhere to get something to eat. The restaurant itself is also just okay, I expected more Senegalese cuisine. I also wanted an affordable place place with a gym but the “gym” is placed in a very small room downstairs. The elliptical machine is right under the ceiling so I kept bumping my head when I tried to use it. The equipment at the “gym” is also very limited. It is far from downtown and not a very nice to walk around. The rooms are nice and very clean. The staff are friendly and try hard to please you. I am giving it two stars because of these two reasons. The WiFi in my room was weak and I was on the second floor. The shower was never hot, more like lukewarm/colder than lukewarm. I usually stay at King Fahd everytime I’m in Dakar but I wanted to see if there’s a place I could get some of the services I needed at a cheaper price. Next time I will just spend the extra money so I can get the comfort and convenience I need. I will not be...
