La Villa Serere — Hotel in Popenguine-Ndayane

The most valuable part of my stay was that the staff did everything to make my stay special. My husband and I needed quality time and the location and tranquility of this property allowed for that. Our room was amazing. the common areas were clean, well furnished, and delightful. The meals were wonderful as well. In west Africa, there are normally issues with electricity, internet, and water, however, we had electricity during our entire stay. The internet had different speeds, but that is to be expected in the area no matter where you stay. Make sure you order your food about an hour before you are ready to eat. The property does not have a restaurant, so they order and deliver the food to you which is a kindness they offer. It was always worth the wait. I was so excited to have hot water in the shower. The staff really went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. For example, we needed some clothing altered and the property manager handled that for us. Customer service is their top priority, The beach has great restaurants and friendly people (know some french words at least to help you order the food). I do not advise you walk to the beach in the middle of the day unless you are staying until the late afternoon because coming back up that hill in the heat is not a whole lot of fun. I stayed here 4 nights before a business visit to Dakar. The driver picked me up from the airport at midnight. 20 minutes drive. The breakfast outside in the garden or the terrace is perfect to have the real africa feeling. Birds are singing and the sea is waiting for you to explore. It is safe to walk in the small village. Beautiful village and beach. Nature reserve also around the corner. The room is nice and large. Good bed. Decent bathroom with hot water. In the building you have several seating areas and a kitchen room. Satellite tv is also there. Mind that there is no supermarket or atm in popenguine. Just kiosks. Arrived really late due to the road trip, but they were informed and waited for me. The only downside was that the restaurant was closed and there was no nothing nearby, but I had a car so could drive out. The reason for a 5 though is the qualité of room, everything worked well. They gave me an large room with a small bed in the living room when they found out that my driver couldn't find a place nearby to sleep. With no extra charge. That's what I call caring.
