Villas Badiene — Hotel in Popenguine-Ndayane

Popenguine in my view is the prettiest spot to stay at on this part of the coast. It is quaint and quiet, not as busy as Saly, and a very short drive from Dakar Airport - it is in fact much closer to the airport than the city of Dakar itself. Villas Badiene is a beautiful laid back property right on the beach. It is more of a homestay than a hotel, I would say, as it is quite small. Staff and management are exceedingly welcoming and really take care of their guests - we felt so at home from the first moment on! There are handpicked pieces of arts and craft everywhere on and in the property and it overall has a very personal touch and you can see that the owner has gone out of her way to create a beautiful space. There is no restaurant on the property but they do offer a good sized menu and the food is cooked by someone in the village - we have had multiple dinners there (on our terrace) and it was always very good! Ample water is provided for the rooms and there is a well stocked fridge in the properties kitchen where you can always order more, plus they have a good assortment of soda, beer and wine. The property offers a pool and a pretty terrace facing the ocean. What really made this such a great place to stay though was the incredible kindness and friendliness of everyone!!! On a side note - the entirety of Senegal is a malaria region and it can get quite buggy but we had absolutely no problems there-there are screens on all windows/doors and the beds have excellent moskito nets that actually stay closed and protect you. We arrived and Marie upgraded our room so we had a whole apartment. She was an amazing host making us feel right- we were able to check in early and the Villa is stunning- right on the beach and with peaceful picturesque surroundings. Marie was always checking on us and we were offered dinner at the Villa which was AMAZING fresh fish cooked by their chef.

We also met Marie's son Martin who was an amazing host making us special cocktails in the pool, giving us a tour of the beautiful Villa and telling us tips about Dakar.

We did not want to leave it was so perfect - they were very flexible on check out time too- loved...

Un week-end mère fille qui restera gravé !

Nous avons été accueillies pas le sourire chaleureux de Marie, une super hôte aux petits soins qui nous a offert un séjour «  ROYAL » ! Le qualificatif royal ne s’arrêtait pas à l’accueil. En effet les chambres sont spacieuses, tamisées et décorées avec goût. La literie a bien failli nous faire rester au lit tout le séjour tant la qualité du matelas et les draps nous enveloppaient comme dans un nuage ... Le chef-cuisinier nous a régalé en nous composant des repas gourmands et équilibrés où les saveurs et produits de saisons sont mis à l’honneur. Marie a pensé à tout dans les moindres détails. Les sportifs retrouveront tout le matériel nécessaire à une bonne séance à l’étage dans cette grande mezzanine aux accents balinais. Pour se relaxer notre hôte nous a proposées différents prestataires de bien-être testés et approuvés par ces soins et on a validé ! Un massage holistique aux huiles de sésame, bissap et pamplemousse. C’était magique ! À l’écoute et disponible, Marie et son équipe nous ont reçu dans ce havre de paix lové au creux de cette large crique que le temps et l’océan ont su magnifiquement sculpté. À proximité, vous pourrez découvrir une réserve naturelle préservée au coté d’un guide, ou alors pour les plus aventuriers partir en balade vers l’inconnu en longeant et grimpant le long de la falaise. Vous y trouverez d’autres criques qui vous offriront des vues à couper le souffle !

À peine arrivées nous ne voulions déjà plus repartir! Loin de l’agitation de Saly, Popenguine offre des paysages et une ambiance chaleureuse à partager en famille, entre amis ou en amoureux (ça donne des idées romantiques ;) ) Cette adresse est une perle rare pour les amoureux de la nature et de la simplicité. Un « Must See » lors de votre découverte du Sénégal.
