Memorial Park October in Kragujevac — Hotel in City of Kragujevac

Stayed two nights here in an "apartment" as we were attending a wedding. The wedding reception itself was spectacular. Gorgeous setup, huge glass wall looking out onto the lawn/park with large sliding glass doors. The reception itself was wonderfully decorated, excellent service and very good food. ||The apartment itself looked like it was still stuck in the 80's... nothing was updated except for the wall mounted A/C unit. The beds were supposed to accommodate 2 adults and two children, what we got was one King and a single bed converted from an ottoman. The bathroom was ok, however the toilet seat was broken and there was a huge stain in the toilet itself. It's really a shame, as there is so much potential here. We were guests at the celebration organized in Hotel Sumarice and the experience was not pleasant due to two reasons. Firstly, the food was literally non-edible - it was tasteless, cold and horribly prepared and served (except for the soup which was quite tasty). Serving such food is a disgrace for any hotel. Secondly, since the whole wall is made of glass in order to provide nice view for the guests (which actually is very nice) the acoustics is terrible. The band music, which was very loud, echoed everywhere making the sound terrible and the songs unrecognizable. Memorijalni park Šumarice predstavlja važan deo srpske istorije i privlači veliku pažnju turista, kako stranih tako i lokalnih, a najviše zbog tragičnih i sentimentalnih događaja kojima ovaj park odaje počast. Uz to, Šumarice su i popularno izletište i odmaralište jer nude pozamašan broj zanimljivih aktivnosti, a istovremeno i prirodne prostore, savršene za predah i opuštanje.

Istorija Šumarica

Istorija Šumarica nije svetla. Na ovom mestu u Drugom svetskom ratu, tačnije 21. oktobra 1941. godine, nemački okupatori su streljali oko 3000 civila, među kojima je bilo 300 učenika kragujevačkih srednjih škola. U znak sećanja na ovaj svirepi čin 1953. godine podignut je spomen-kompleks “Kragujevački oktobar”, koji uključuje spomenike “Spomenik bola i prkosa”, “Spomenik čistačima obuće”, “Sto za jednog”, spomenik “Otpora i slobode” i najpoznatiji “Spomenik streljanim đacima i profesorima” sa jednako poznatom rečenicom jednog od nastradalih profesora, uklesanom na kamenu ispod spomenika: „Pucajte, ja i sada držim čas!“. Pored spomenika, na ulazu u park, podignut je i spomen-muzej “21. oktobar”, čija arhitektura je vrlo simbolična jer fasada nema prozore - simbol bezizlaza ljudi koji su pogubljeni.

Radno vreme i cena ulaznica Spomen-muzej “21. oktobar”je otvoren svakog radnog dana od 8h do 16h. Spomen-park nema radno vreme.
