Hotel Analux is the biggest hotel in city Pirot and propably the local hero here, but this so called 4 star hotel is not like European **. the location in middle of town town is perfect and the high building seems very modern.
the truth inside is something different. the rooms and furniture are quite old and shabby. maintenance is not known here. you can find painting marks and dead mosquitos from guest before on the ceramic tiles in the bathroom. toilet paper is one-layer and towels are usually scraggy.
kitchen of appartement is small and nice, no convection, no dishwasher, no coffee machine.
air-condition is working but has a specific smell, heating is not working propper. especially when hotel is booked well, you cannot use WiFi for phoning and water during 5 minutes shower is getting cold. parking space is hard to find cause places are rented also to non-guests. sweaty smell and not very propper situation in the gym. half of cardio tools are broken or nearly broken (running strip for 4 weeks now).
After many weeks I am kind of tired to ask for things which should be standard in 4*-hotel. even though the gave there best when you are extra begging for something.
I only took a look at breakfast. tropical fresh fruits, berries, soya milk, avocado or sth, salmon, soft or scrambled eggs, honey, fresh juice, smoothies, fruit yoghurts ... you will not find there.
all ladies at reception do a perfect and professional job. they are 24/7 available and ALWAYS friendly.
furthermore the spa including staff is excellent. massage treatments are absolutely perfect and strong. you have only to make appointment before and pay extra. no special prices or offers for long term guests.
summarized: hotel tries to give good impression but it's miles away from an European or...
Read moreI did not stay in the Analux hotel but I ate and drank at the Analux cafe on every day during my 11 day stay in the beautiful town of Pirot. Having eaten at literally thousands of cafes and restaurants on 6 continents in the past 40 years I can confidently say the Analux Cafe is one of the best value for money cafes I ever had the pleasure to dine in.
The coffee is very good (9/10), most of the cakes are superb, others are "only good" as taste is subjective (10/10), the main dishes are simple but made of natural and locally sourced ingredients (i.e the omlette with smoked cheese is as good as that in my favourite breakfast place in Basel, Switzerland but it literally costs 600% less, the "plain rice" actually qualifies as a risotto because it is made in a cream sauce and proper rice used for risotto but it costs less than 1 Euro - incredible but true!!... Surely 10/10)
The service is (10/10). All waiters and waitresses are professional and speak excellent English (a special thanks to Jelena who was particularly helpful and kind but the entire team is great).
The atmosphere is 9 and probably a 7 during winter because when it is crowded the venue is probably very smokey plus starting from lunchtime the music can be louder than what most non-serbs are used to (the locals seem to enjoy high decibels) so I give it an (8/10).
The final score is : 47/5 = 9.4 = 4.7 which is a definite...
Read moreWhat else to say about the "best" hotel in Pirot other than disappointing. They keep your IDs until you check out, which is, by the way, against the law in Serbia. So, when I asked for our IDs back they told me it was a hotel policy since they had had guests who ran away without paying!!! Basically, they are treating all of their guests as potential thieves. That's the type of service and hospitality you can expect from this hotel and its staff. ||The hotel doesn't deserve the stars they have. Bunch of know-it-alls who can't meet even the simplest guest requirements, such as keeping the AC in the room off and keeping the windows open even when explicitly told to do so. When confronted about the problem they didn't know how to solve it!||Last but not least, in these times of Covid19 pandemic some of the staff didn't even wear masks!||We wanted to stay for four nights and stayed only 2 because of all the problems we had with them. We wouldn't have stayed the second night either, but we got back late that day just to discover the problem with AC and we didn't have enough time to change the hotel. ||Next time in Pirot, we'll find another hotel. Never staying in...
