This is probably one of the worst hotels I've ever been to. First of all, Oplenac mausoleum complex is something you visit for a couple of hours, and even if you stay for lunch, there's no need for staying overnight.||As I can see on other people photos, there actually are rooms that are renovated but the room we got, is disgraceful. It was waaaay to small even for two persons, and we are family of three. Our bathroom had no heating of any kind (mid Feb.2020!!!); our three beds were outdated; TV didn't work even after serviceman "repaired" it; the door lock did not give the impression that it could stop anyone of entering your room; carpets (actually furry plastic floor covers) even look filthy and we even had a mousetrap by the window (mouse probably broke the door lock). Room furniture (and the entire interior design) looks old and tired, and probably chosen by someone who has never ever, been to a decent hotel in his life. I mentioned non functional TV because the alternative is to spend time suffocating||in the hotel restaurant (even during official meal time smoking is allowed), with no windows that can be open, and terrible smell from the restorant kitchen that distroyes all your clothes.||As for the spa, it looks nice and it's relatively new and meaningfully designed. But, after a friend's kid got a diarrhea after an hour there, I skipped the experience.||The staff is ok. Our meal plan included...
Read moreGood location, within the historical Oplenac monument complex, and close to the city centre. My impression is that the hotel is classy, halls are decorated with large Karađorđević dinasty portraits. If they put thicker carpets in the hallways and stair, and maybe change the balustrade, it would look exclusive. Our room was large enough for the two of us, the bathroom was functional and clean. There is a spa center, consisting of a smallish swimming pool with hydro and aero massage, Turkish bath and Finnish sauna. The spa is clean and they provide you with the bathrobe and slippers for the duration of the stay and all the towels you need int the spa. The staff is kind and helpful. Regarding prices, I wouldn't call it a budget hotel, as it is claimed in the description.||On the bad side, we stayed beginning of October, it was chilly and there was no heating. To be honest, it would be an exception for a hotel to have heating in this period. But they have rooms with A/C, so if you're staying in spring or autumn, do ask for one.||The restaurant I cannot recommend. It is OK for breakfast. For the dinner, some barbecue was good, other stuff not too much. Squids were surprisingly good. Food-wise it would be better to try other restaurants in Topola or near, I can recommend the Vožd.||Overall, I recommend this hotel, just ask for a room with A/C in spring or fall and...
Read moreI was there in 2013 and it was good.
Went back there in the summer 2023 and oh man was it an unpleasant surprise. The place has become old and poorly maintained. The hotel is empty of customers and clearly understaffed.
Talking about the staff: True Serbs. They don't care one bit about their job and the service quality. You wait for your food an eternity at the restaurant. The waitress forgot the bread, so we asked for it. By the time she came back with it, a good 30 minutes later, we already had finished eating. The staff is outside, sitting together in the garden, smoking, drinking and laughing. They aren't at work apparently, just there to hang out.
Talking about the bread, it was as hard as a brick, uneatable. The food overall was ok-ish. Not bad but nothing to write home about.
The place has decayed significantly in 10 years. Its a shame, it was a very nice place back in 2013. People managing it clearly dont care and should be replaced. The restaurant prices are quite high for Serbia, except for the wine. The wine is good but it was served warm. You dont do that when its...
