Negative experience before I even stayed there. I booked months before my stay but was informed by Agoda agents 2 days prior that the hotel was unable to accommodate me on that date due to "disinfection exercise". I wonder why I couldn't be informed earlier of what seemed to be routine work. There goes my plans and anticipation for the staycation. So last minute I had to liaise with Agoda to find an alternative stay date, and it was a tedious experience involving multiple emails. Since it was difficult for my companion to last-minute confirm another date for the staycation (I only had 1 day to finalise the date), I ended up coming alone.
Check in process was rather long. SafeEntry check-in, temperature taking, filing up a health declaration form, having to pay a $50 deposit in cash or online payment (had to wait for the invoice to be generated so that I may fill in my card details), booking of facilities etc. Zzzzzz. Allocate at least 15 mins for this.
Superior studio is a good sized room for 2 adults (maybe plus a kid). I had trouble with the card slot as the power kept turning off shortly even with the card in. Engineer came relatively quickly but his attitude was very bad. He just complained "aiya, xxx" and fiddled around with the card slot for a short while, and walked away all of a sudden without checking if the issue was resolved (since the power cut-off only after a while, not immediately). Thankfully it was indeed resolved but the experience left a bad "wth??" taste. Other customer-facing staff were polite but could have provided more directions to first-time guests of this property. Like when check-in was done, the staff could have pointed out where the elevators are as the door cards were handed over. Or at the pool, after checking in with the staff (as gym and pool facilities need to be pre-booked now) , the guy could have directed me to where the entrance to the pool and the pool towels were (I walked straight and almost went to the gym instead).
Pool is limited to 4 pax per 1-hour time slot. Could be difficult getting the time you want, especially these days with the year-end monsoon season, it rained for several hours in the afternoon to evening so I could only book a night slot. But an advantage is a more private-pool experience. Jacuzzi could be powered on with a button, but again, it wasn't that user-friendly as there was no sign indicating so and another guest was just lying there in still water not knowing this could be done. Music from speakers at the pool area seemed to be decided by the staff, which ranged from club party music to Malay songs. Sauna and steam rooms are in the gender-segregated restrooms and don't have to be booked. However during my stay, the sauna was not in use (it was just a dark room and I didn't find any switch to power the sauna). :( The steam room at least had a switch for users to power up the steam, but it was a lacklustre experience. The steam was hardly hot enough for condensation (much less sweat) to form on my skin. Only one hook in the showers which is only good enough for a bath towel; what about our clothes? Didn't like that the walkway between the elevators and the gym/pool can be seen from the lobby below. There were always people looking up when I walked by. It is a strange layout as the guests going to and fro might not be decently dressed (since gg to the pool) or look disheveled with wet hair. Ladies shouldn't wear skirts above knee length too since the guard rails are clear glass.
Room: Bed were very comfortable; I wished I could sleep more in it. Liked that there's a sofa in the room for watching the TV. Cable channels are available. Bathroom amenities are good, only lacking a facial wash (and for men, a razor). Bathroom door is a sliding one...
Read moreOn the whole we had a good staycay at capri. Just to use up the SRV we were looking for something different than the usual places we go. Chanced upon this promo with master chef dinner and breakfast for 2. It was a good deal.
The location was convenient, easy to walk to from expo station. But due to the covid restrictions, the entry way was quite limited from the mall, you have to walk to the Jollibee side. We got a bit lost at first trying to walk around the hotel to the entrance but it’s barricaded.
The check in was quick and seamless with our booking ready. Just had to do some covid declaration which took some time. I think everything would be fast is no restrictions.
The room was nice. We booked the standard so it was just twin beds and the desk. The master chef package we selected steak so everything was prepped and ready in the room. Which was good. BUT they failed to check whether the induction was working! It would have been good if they do prestay checks for master chef stays. Only later in the evening around 8pm, when we wanted to cook, then we discovered the induction wasn’t working and the technician can’t repair it. Luckily the service manager was very prompt and gave us an instant upgrade to a deluxe room with sofa! More comfy for dining. He also sent up the concierge to help us to move our bags. That was nice and fast! Good service recovery.
Then the TV remote in the new room wasn’t working. But luckily the service staff are very fast and the technician came quickly. He replaced a new remote control because the existing one was spoilt. The poor guy was rushing here and there from room to room to fix things without yet a dinner break at 10pm! Pls give him a raise and OT pay! He was so friendly and helpful despite being tired and hungry.
Although the pool booking system is quite silly that guests can’t prebook over email, the app chat system is easy to use. But you’ll be disappointed if there’s no slot since you can only book after you enter the room and scan the QR code. Not great for guests who are not tech savvy. The pool isn’t too big but ok for some exercise. The massage jacuzzi they should fix it because it’s more like spraying fountain of water and not jacuzzi. They should also put a clock at the pool area because nobody knew what time it was and our slot is times up or not. We had to gesture to the guys in the gym to signal to us what time! Haha…
At breakfast there was also quite a number of selections. And you can get refills. That’s great. But they were understaffed too. Only 2 staff twirling around serving quite a few tables. The food is so-so lah but it’s ok. Good enough. Check out was also fast and easy. The counter staff was friendly too.
For the staffs efforts, helpfulness and friendliness, comfort and size of the room, I would give 5 stars. But there’s some hiccup here and there which could be avoided. So to be fair, minus one star and review 4 stars! Quite a nice staycay for 2 ladies to chill. Got shopping nearby. Got swimming pool. Got big rooms with comfy bed. Big bathroom but sadly no bathtub. On the...
Read moreThis place takes the cake of the worst hotel experience i’ve had.
During my first stay, the staff was extremely curt during the check in process. Have you heard of any hotel saying this when asking for your identification? “Your ic?” — that’s it. Am i in a convenience store?
The sheets had lots of stains and i requested for a change. The front desk staff response was lukewarm at best but the sheets were changed.
Thinking i could give it a chance again as its location was perfect for me, i was left utterly disappointed. It was a debacle to say the least.
There were ants all throughout the room when i first arrived and upon informing the front desk, they told me that they will send someone up.
The pest control staff helped to spray and check the place thoroughly. He was very polite and tried his best to ensure that there were no more ants. He was the one to tell me i’d better inform the front desk if i wanted a room change.
Told him i’ll just observe and see if there’s anything.
Minutes after he left, there was large insect on the wall. Went to request for a room change. The same lady who’d gave me my room key, whom i informed the ants issue, was not apologetic for this inconvenience at all.
Not once did she apologise and seemed annoyed by my room change request. Told me that the concierge would follow me up and help bring my bags to the new room while i’d to return the old room key to him.
When the concierge gentleman came to me, he just passed me the new room key. I asked if he was going with me as the front desk lady mentioned so. He replied “orh you want me to follow you is it?” Not sure if that rudeness was warranted.
Thinking there probably was some arrangement between the concierge and front desk, i told him i’d just get my own bags and it was no trouble.
Went up, my room key couldn’t access the old room. Went down. Told the same front desk lady and she never said anything to me after i told her i couldn’t access and simply walked off to the concierge.
The concierge walked to me looking annoyed.
Thankfully the new room was free from insects and i could stay in there peacefully for the 5 nights.
However at the back of my mind, i was constantly questioning the cleanliness of this hotel.
Would absolutely not return. I am starting to have my doubts about the brands under fraser hospitality too.
“At Frasers Hospitality, the difference lies in the way we care. Underlying our award-winning service is an innate sense of empathy, and a strong intuition for what our guests need. With our attention to detail coupled with the comfort and luxury of our properties, we deliver a memorable experience which our guests keep coming back for.”
For what is being claimed, it is concerning that the level of service provided by back-of-house staff far exceeded that of all your front-facing staff i’ve...
