Pretty cheap @30 SGD a night. Problem is if you're a tourist, reception BARELY speaks English. Also expect to provide a 10 SGD security deposit cash only. It's safe, clean, and cool though, no doubts about that! Reception is at the desk 24 hours, didn't see a single bug, and AC is great even makes the room slightly chilly. One annoying thing is getting assigned the upper bed, because it's a pain to climb, the steps are small, and the bed shakes. I asked to switch to a lower bed seeing as it was empty and I booked an extended stay (10 nights) so was hoping they could be courteous... nope they said what the system assigns is what you get. Wonder what they'd do if someone actually had an injury from climbing like that. Proceeded to see the lower beds empty for half my stay but if I used them I'd get fined like 100 SGD. Another annoying thing is it's a "15 min walk" to the MRT but it feels like forever, you're crossing like 11 streets and couple intersections. I tried to use the two bus stops (1 min and 5 min walks) whenever I could. You get a towel, they provide body wash/shampoo/hair dryer and there's an iron next to the elevator. Overall would stay again cuz it's the best hostel combining cheap/clean/safe and just hope I get the lower bed

Erstwhile Hotel Ascendre, One of the most comfortable rooms, spic and span + well equipped toilets, plus good service right in the heart of Geylang. The rooms have been renovated in a cost effective manner from the previous ownership. But overall the services and attentiveness of the staff members, like Amit or Hao, was exceptional. Had a great time, as I stayed there for 3 nights. The common space was fairly equipped, so even if you have food leftovers you can put it in. The location is very easy to find and near around one of the best eateries Singapore has to offer. For the cost it comes at, it is very cheap and affordable as per SG standard. No hidden charges, no frills and jargon, so the check-in and check out was equally fast and efficient. Kudos to the staff members for being really chilled, yet on toes to help the guests.

One of the cheapest accoms (based on Agoda Listings only) for solo travellers. My assigned room was expectedly cramped as there were 6 beds in it. Each visitor has an assigned bed and locker. However I was not able to use the locker due to some difficulties in using their locks. The room has private bathroom, which has provisions for body soap and shampoo, as well as tissue papers. Bowl has bidet, which is a plus for me. Each bed has universal sockets, which no longer need adaptors. Property is located in Geylang, and it is just a few minutes walk from bus stops — commute to/from airport is easy. There are also nearby convenience stores, shops, restos. Property is also generally responsive to queries. I must say this is recommended for solo group travellers who wont mind the limited and shared facilities.

Hi everybody Just want to tell you about the scam that D Nova hotel together with Trip.com are doing:It happened to many tourists (I saw it by my own eyes). It goes like that:They have rooms for male and for female. When I wanted to book, it was really hard to see that the room I was booked, was a female room only. You can check by yourself. Especially when you're in Singapore during the weekend and it's really hard to find a place. If it was not a scam they would probably put a red line and make it clear for us that it's a female room only, but they don't. Why?Because they know many people won't pay attention to that and will loose their money by the same way I lost it.By the way, as a back packer I slept the other night in the street cause everything around was so expensive.I went 3 times to the hostel to understand what can I do, but no one cares. I did the same with Trip.com but so far they said the next time when I book I should look carefully. You understand that I payed around 30$ that night, slept in the street cause that was a female room and they don't care at all. Last time, today 10.8 when I came again, I saw a group of 10 people had the same thing and got the same answers:"You booked in a female room, and I cannot cancel it"That was the guy who work in the reception told them.Actually I travel a lot in the world and never seen something like that. This is exactly a "legal" scam. For any question you can WhatsApp...

They are a bunch of rip-offs. Stay away from them if you don’t wanna get scammed. I was waiting for my visa so I booked with them and the cut off date for free cancellation was 8 days prior to travel date and when I realised that I waited until the end and when my visa was still in process, I applied for the cancellation and turned out I was 2 hours late so I requested them by stating I still haven’t got my visa so it would be better to cancel but they didn’t fulfil it so I decided to change the dates of stay but they declined that too. Called them, the receptionist was RUDE as hell from the get go and started saying it’s not my problem and it’s not in the policy even though I said I’m not asking, I’m requesting. He kept being rude so I hanged up and complained to Booking.com however the receptionist kept calling me on WhatsApp (they are too broke to do international calls) and when I picked up, he started abusing and what (I still have screenshots). Anyways booking.com declined my request because as per them it was me who abused operator and his family (false). So yes, make sure to stay away from the scammers. My booking was on 14th November and I got my visa on 21st, could’ve stayed but not gonna give them more money of mine. Also, they charged the whole amount instead of one night standard and they keep refusing to give it back (I stopped asking too, they better buy something nice for...
