Food portion is too small and the staff is rude. Hesitant to even give a one star. For a $12 small plate of ginger chicken, the serving only amounts to one chicken wing sliced into 6 -7 pieces and 4 thumb-sized sweetened ginger cubes. When we asked the middle aged waitress if this is the normal serving, she brought the dish back into the kitchen to inform the chef. Later she brought back the same plate of dish without any topping, and said the kitchen would prepare more for us meanwhile we could enjoy the dish first. a moment later, another waiter brought out the second serving (now with 8-10 chicken slices) from the kitchen to our table. A few minutes later, the middle aged waitress, portraying herself as the boss, said that her helpers had mistakenly given us a full portion of the dish, adding that her initial instruction to the helper and kitchen was to add a few more toppings. We feedback that her other dishes also are too small a portion. She clarified that their normal portion is that small, and we haven't frequent her restaurant enough to know that. Then she walked away halfway into our conversation. She had given us a vibe that we didn't deserve to be given 'additional' serving. Eventually, we didn't finish the last 2 pcs of chicken, we paid and left. She wasn't apologetic at all at...
Read moreFood is decent but service is extremely bad especially the long haired lady at front desk. We were greeted with rudeness upon entering. Asked how many people we have, replied 6. Then asked if we made reservations, my sil replied not sure. And front desk replied “you mean you don’t know how many pple you have??!!” 😑
Later asked for kai lan to be fried without oyster sauce explaining that my niece is allergic to seafood. She said not possible at first. But finally relented to check with chef when I gave her an incredulous look. Came back and confirmed possible so we placed the order. Kailan still came with oyster sauce. 😱
Then we ordered sweet and sour pork amongst a long list of items which we missed out that it was not repeated back to us. So when we thought about it later and asked them if the order was taken, instead of just taking it in stride to say no and if we still want it, she huffed over to our table and shouted to us that when she we did not point out when she repeated the order, then it is our fault! Dude, we are just checking and not pointing fingers here.
Extremely unpleasant experience and totally spoilt our meal. Will definitely...
Read moreThe last time I ate under this brand was during their father's time located at the original geylang shop.
Due to my all time favourite Joo Heng suddenly closed down for good last year so this restaurant served as an alternative to me because their menu are similar then Steamed Song Fishhead are their common signature star dish!
But after dine-in there last night, I can only say the experience made me missed Joo Heng even more :(
The fish's gravy failed big time due to the sauce n fermented bean did not bland well + the taste just isn't up to mark & it's so saltish! ($30) The sweet & sour pork is the most chunkiest ones I had ever seen and the taste failed as well due to their version is drier (over fried causing the meat to be tough to bite) then there is no typical sweet & sour taste at all! The KangKong however does have the wor hei + loads of hei-bi-hiam and tasted well in general, just not spicy enough though... The final dish - tofu and prawn with tasty gravy is decent only.
The bill of our meal included 5 bowls of rice and 4 cups of refillable pu-er tea is consider reasonable @ $93 but this will be our First and Last visit...
