Bardejovke kupele is an old spa that has been treating patients for centuries. One thing to keep in mind, is that this is a rehabilitative spa. People come here, paid by their insurance at the recommendation of their doctor, to rehabilitate after surgery or due to ongoing chronic health issues. The usual stay is 3-4 weeks. There are people here with serious health conditions.||I was persuaded by the web site that it is also open to people to self-pay and have a relaxing experience while also attending to general health issues. Hmmm, yes, you can come here and self-pay and receive treatment, but is it not quite as advertised.||The good stuff:|The spa is located in the forest surrounded by hills, in a beautiful park setting. There are miles of walking/hiking trails within the park and surrounding it. The setting is truly beautiful. |Going to the treatments requires walking and if you choose, lots of stairs climbing. I got plenty of much needed exercise every day.||Not the not so good stuff:Keep in mind this is from the point of view of someone who paid for everything.||The rooms are standard European hotel rooms. The bathroom is tiny, and the shower stall is so small, you can barely turn around in it.|Sheets are changed once a week, trash is emptied every day and the room is cleaned daily or so.||The food: there are two options, you either choose one of four main entries ahead of time or you pay and extra * Euros a day for the "healthier" buffet for lunch and dinner. I paid the extra, and am not sure it was worth it, to be honest. The meals are standard Slovak home cooking, though less tasty than I remember. The salads are a variety of cucumbers, tomatoes, and either Napa cabbage chopped up or a beet salad. Also some sort of carrot salad and another nondescript thing I tried but didn't like. The salads are combined throughout the week, so the cucumber and tomatoes are thrown together, the Napa cabbage gets corn tossed in. The third day the cucumbers and tomatoes get corn also. Once a week there was chopped iceberg lettuce.|There are always either three types of potatoes, or two and rice. There is usually something fried, something in a stew and something au natural. |First, let me say I LOVE GOOD SLOVAK food. This was not. The food was a truly disappointing experience for me.||The treatments are assigned by a doc and some were beneficial, some I didn't go to more than once. The mineral bath is tepid and you get in the tub naked -with the attendant in the room. I wasn't sure how/if it was disinfected between patients so I didn't go again.|The massaged are assigned in 15 min (or less) time slots. Again the therapist is in the room as you undress, keeping your slacks on. & minutes is spent on a back massage, then you are to to sit up and your neck is massaged, while you sit there naked from the waist up. Then, as you're getting dressed, the attendant is in the room. Not for those who are a bit shy.|Same for other treatments, where you need to be in your underwear -depending on how many people are in for a treatment, you either get a private room, or you undress in the common area. The treatments are rather randomly assigned, some days you'll start at 7am, other not until later,||The wellness center, to which I had access the entire time consisted of a pool where you could get a good massage from the jets, but no lap pool per se. I got a once-a-day entry for two hours. It was at times incredibly crowded. The sauna world cost an extra 5 Euros, and there are several different types of saunas. However, no place to change into the sheet I was given. The old men walking around naked were not pleasant to look at. Also pretty crowded, so I only went once.||In the evenings there are several bars open even in the off-season. There are also a couple of places that have music and dancing. As I was not looking for "company' I did not go.||Note -if you're a foreigner, people here are incredibly nosy. I speak Slovak, but everyone in the spa and hotel knew I was 'an American" due to my name. As now one could pronounce it, I am pretty sure not many, if any, people speak English. The nosiness got tiring after a while, as were the pointed questions about the US not having spas like this and how am I enjoying my stay, a long with some really intrusive questions that I found at times uncomfortable.||So, I am glad I went. I do feel better. I enjoyed the hikes, I lost weight. The setting is really beautiful. However, not coming to this spa again. The food really did me in.|As did the signs throughout the hotel in Slovak, German and Russian. Socialism has not totally left this hotel.||I signed up for two weeks, left a day early. The only thing I wish I had done differently is that I was surprisingly not assigned any exercise classes. I wish I had paid for daily exercise classes. It would have made for a better...
Read moreThis so-called “hotel” is nothing but a filthy scam, an overpriced pigsty pretending to be a resort. For €2800 a week you don’t get comfort, you don’t even get decency – you get humiliation and disgust on every level. Let’s start with the restaurant: When it rains, it literally rains on your head and into your food inside the dining room. Guests are eating soup with drops falling from the ceiling into their bowls and down their necks. Unbelievable. The food? Pure garbage. Old, recycled, tasteless slop. What you don’t finish at breakfast magically reappears at lunch with vinegar or onions thrown on top. Leftovers from yesterday are reheated and served again as “today’s meal.” Even the waitresses openly asked each other if the meat was from today or from previous days – they didn’t even try to hide it! Fruits? Forget it. The “buffet” boasted one miserable apple on a tiny plate for each guest during an entire week. That’s it. No fresh fruit, no fruit salads, no cakes. Instead of cakes, they chop up stale pancakes from previous days and sprinkle some nut powder on them. Pathetic. Vegetables and cucumbers clearly rotten, sour, and reused meal after meal. Disgusting. And let’s not forget: we found HAIRS baked into fried foods and scattered around the cutlery. Absolutely revolting and unacceptable. Service & cleanliness in the dining area: Dirty tablecloths that were never changed. Even when they were stained and disgusting, they simply put new cutlery and napkins on top of the filth. When we removed the filthy tablecloth ourselves, they scolded us, saying we “must sit in the pigsty like pigs.” And the head waitress had the nerve to put the SAME filthy cloth back on the table. Are you serious?! Plates and bowls were chipped, with broken glaze. Cutlery often missing. Napkins absent. Service staff unhelpful and rude. Rooms & hygiene: Housekeeping does NOT exist. They never cleaned our room for the entire week. We begged the cleaner to do more than just swap towels – her reply: “Guests should clean the toilet themselves.” Excuse me? We arrived to find a toilet with someone else’s feces inside! Dust was so thick it was visible everywhere. We even left notes asking them to wipe it – ignored every single time. Excuse was that “since COVID, cleaning is no longer done.” What a joke. Windows covered in dried bird droppings – no cleaning whatsoever. That was our daily view. Towels full of holes, shredded rags that should have been thrown away years ago. These were given to us in an “exclusive apartment”! Bathrobes? Torn to pieces, yellow stains, missing loops, dirty and embarrassing. Wearing them felt like being homeless beggars wrapped in garbage. They never once made our bed! When we booked the stay, we specifically asked both the reservation lady and the receptionist if rooms were cleaned daily. Both of them assured us that rooms are serviced every day. That was a blatant LIE. Do not believe them! Amenities: Kettles in rooms but never any tea or coffee provided. Useless. Overall atmosphere – depressing, dirty, shameful. In the room description it says you get a personal scale, but what they don’t tell you is that the scale has no batteries and doesn’t even work! Nobody ever vacuums the carpets. And the worst – during our stay, without any notice, a staff member and two men just walked straight into our room saying they came to measure it, without even asking for permission to enter. We were changing clothes at the time! It was unbelievably stupid, shameless, arrogant, and showed zero respect for paying guests! Final Verdict Hotel Ozon is a disgrace. The management clearly thinks guests are animals and deserve to live in filth, eat rotten leftovers, and be insulted while paying luxury prices. This is not “bad service,” this is fraud and humiliation. The place should be shut down by health inspectors immediately. Save your money, your health, and your dignity – NEVER stay here. Calling this a hotel is an insult...
Jedlo? Ovocie? Zabudnite. „Bufet“ ponúkal jedno úbohé jablko na malom tanieriku pre každého hosťa počas celého týždňa. To je všetko. Žiadne čerstvé ovocie, žiadne ovocné šaláty, žiadne koláče k obedu či večeri. Namiesto koláčov krájajú staré palacinky z predchádzajúcich dní a posypú ich orieškovým práškom. A nezabudnime: našli sme VLASY upečené vo vyprážanom jedle a rozhádzané po príboroch. Absolútne odporné a neprijateľné. Personál neochotný a hrubý. Upratovanie tu neexistuje. Roztrhané na kusy, so žltými škvrnami, chýbajúcimi uškami, špinavé. V izbách boli kanvice, ale nikdy žiadny čaj ani káva, to si musíte ísť do mesta Bardejov zakúpiť sami, niekoľko kilometrov. Bolo to neuveriteľne hlúpe, bezohľadné, arogantné a ukazovalo nulový rešpekt voči platiacim hosťom! Miesto by malo byť okamžite zatvorené hygienikmi.
