From the moment we arrived in the region we could see the castle for miles. Set up on a large hill the view is amazing at all four corners of the castle. On arrival into the reception our bags were collected from the car by the concierge, the receptionist who spoke excellent English offered us prosecco or juice while we checked in. We were then shown to our room which was fabulous to say the least. The castle is newly renovated and opened in 2016 and this is evident in the condition of the rooms and public areas. To say our suite was excusite is an understatement. The bedroom which gave an almost 360 degree view of the area was out of this world. The wellness centre was beautiful with the usual sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and pool. There is massage available on request.||Breakfast was delightful, both continental and cooked are available and come included in the price. We had dinner in the hotel with family and this is also very well priced considering the quality of the establishment. ||One or two points annoyed me, the ST. Nichlaus Bar and the rooftoplounge are closed for the winter. We were not supplied with this information until we went enquiring. Also the hotel shuts down at 22.00 except for room service. ||To conclude, this is a fantastic hotel, the quality of the facilities and service and manners of staff are...

As we were 11 family members, with 5 teenagers, we booked 3 suites and were delighted that breakfast was included and charmed by the welcoming drinks on our arrival. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully and creatively appointed (a telescope!); the restaurant food uniformly of excellent quality, both in the formal main dining room and in the casual wine cellar. I have nothing but admiration for the vigilance with which the staff attended to our every individual need and the indoor and outdoor amenities were hugely appreciated by all ages. We had experienced high-end city airbnbs (Prague, Vienna and Budapest) and stumbling upon this superb hotel (one hesitates to say in the middle of nowhere, but it certainly seemed that way) was a welcome revelation and wonderful surprise. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any group seeking a conference or retreat venue, or indeed, to anyone looking for a peaceful setting in which to decompress and take stock! It was very reasonably priced for the value received, too. And of course, it's a natural for weddings -- there was one while we were there and we weren't bothered...

The service here is absolutely terrible!! Waiters in "vinaren Nicolaus" were unprofessional and very poorly trained considering that it should be a 4 star establishment. We were sitting there for a while and when nobody came to bring us menues I went up to the bar to grab them myself. There were two waiters behind the bar and one of them told me that he will be there in a minute. So we waited...waited and waited. Meanwhile there was another couple who came after us and the same waiter came to them and took the order and served their coffees. Only after that he came to our table to take an order ..and then we waited again. Another couple came in and also their drinks came before ours..and all we ordered were 3 coffees and one jug of water with mint and lemon (offered on their menu, however they didn't have any mint in the entire establishment?!) After they brought us coffee two coffees out of 3 were almost served to a wrong table and we had to inquire again about our jug of water because they forgot to bring it. We have been to 4 star hotels before, and this is absolutely...

I stumbled upon this castle while looking at the route of our road trip — we are so glad that we splurged to stay here as a treat while on our honeymoon. As a 4star hotel, they have an abundance of amenities and it is surreal to stay in one of the newly furnished rooms. The castle has a fascinating history; it fell into disrepair after decades of war & soviet rule, serving at one stage to confine mentally handicapped youth in the 1960s. Thanks to the privatisation of the castle in 2005 and the extensive renovations that followed, it is a gloriously comfortable, once in a lifetime experience. Service is courteous and helpful, dining at the restaurant was satisfactory though a little dear. In the mornings the free breakfast is generous, and you’ll find yourself in awe around every corner of this hotel.

Castle looks lovely an must be after recent, careful refurbishment. It is lovely to see Slovak/Hungarian cultural heritage restored and cared for. Castle grounds seemed well kept with good access road. We visited on a day when a private party was about to happen so we were unable to visit inside. Leaving 3 stars as the attitude of security/reception man was really rude and more resemblant of abusive military personnel than of a employee working in hospitality. My father has visited this place before and was keen to show me the inside as he thought it was lovely. When we got to the door my father was almost shoved outside when he asked if he can just show me inside. It was really upsetting to see a family member treated like this.

The one and only experience in a castle. It says 4 star hotel, but the room conditions and services are definitely- 5 stars. Spa and massage - it’s relatively small but not crowded. Massage was very good as well. Fitness Studio - Pretty small, but has almost everything what you need. Restaurant - breakfast was a good range of choices and you can order your favorite style of coffee. Dinner offers different dishes and Veggie option is possible. Reception- fast, professional, accommodating Room condition- EXCEPTIONAL 👏👏👏
