Zlatý Jeleň — Hotel in Košice

What happened to us on arrival would perhaps make good material for a comedy sketch but with a young child in tow was stressful & unbelievable. We arrived at 6pm to find the gates shut & a wedding underway. After waiting 1/2 an hour at an unmanned reception under the stairwell, we had to ask assistance from a wedding guest. She told us we could not be staying as the wedding had taken the whole pension. Eventually the owner was contacted & we were informed he had booked us rooms at the next door hotel down the road. Nobody directed us, thank-you Google Maps! On arrival at reception at the neighbouring Bankov Hotel, we found out we had been lied to & the owner of Zlaty Jelen refused to pay for our rooms despite rooms being available & having paid Hotels.com upfront. 2 hours of arguing ensued, being told the owner was making his way to the Bankov. Eventually in desperation I walked back to the Zlaty Jelen to find the owner relaxing on the terrace! Again I had to enlist the help of a wedding guest & after a heated argument he said his manageress was arriving to take us to yet another hotel he had booked. Well I wish I had never got in her car to pick up my family from the other hotel as we were taken to a dive in the suburbs with strip neon lighting. We refused to get out of the car and after another 1/2 hour of heated argument in which I had to threaten legal action we were taken back to the neighbouring hotel after being lied to again and told they had no rooms. At 10.20pm (4hrs 20mins later) we were finally granted access to a family room, exhausted & famished. |Yes the next day the manageress was nice, took us back to the family room we had originally booked & made us cup cakes. No the owner despite seeing him, did not apologise. Yes the place itself was in a wonderful location & the rooms (sans wedding) quiet but nothing makes up for the horrendous experience we...

Getting married in a small (romantic) chapel just next to the Hotel (4 min walk) the rain made our march a bit funny, however we enjoy it a lot.

The hotel was very well dressed, atmosphere amazing, food absolutely delicious (although a bit expensive) and what we enjoy the most was a very professional and helpful staff of Zlaty Jelen.

The owner made sure we that the next day we could stay at our apartments as long as we wanted and recover from a night before :) The manageress made for us a great breakfast and helped us to collect all the rest of alcohol and food from the wedding party. I consider that as a nice gesture.

In general, the place is beautiful, in a middle of a forest and nature. It is creating a great and intimate atmosphere.

Unbelievable place for wedding. We were so happy that we choose for this place and will definitely recommend to every single couple who looking for best place for wedding in lovely place. It's worth it. We had no issue at all,great service,very friendly and profesional staff,chef was making awesome food. Owner was trying to help us as much as possible, because we had to organize everything from Ireland and we could see he has a lot of experience with weeding.

We had lovely and unforgettable wedding(8/7/16) and it was pleasure to share our big day with you.
