We stumbled on Penzion Maco one night after a long day skiing and it was so good we ended up returning every night of our stay in Liptovsky Jan.||A family run Penzion where you are made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble.||The menu is good but there is always something that isn't actually on the menu that is often better! ||Not being Slovakian and certainly not able to read the menu I was at the mercy of my skiing partner who had to translate everything. I just kept saying that I wanted local food, something that I couldn't eat every day at home. I wasn't disappointed.......||I had a pig's knee, which was delicious, with lots of cold pickles and mustards. Pork in jelly with raw onion and vinegar was another of my favourites. The home-made sausage stuffed with meat and rice was just superb and the soups were gorgeous.||Every night the bar man / chef / owner / grandfather, (I think his name was Ladislav) made me a jug of hot mulled wine which is just what the doctor ordered when you are frozen to the bone. ||If you are ever in Liptovsky Jan I would really recommend that you try to eat at Penzion Maco if you can.
