Pension Black Ms. — Hotel in Martin

Martin is often used as a starting point for hikes in the nearby mountains. We chose this small hotel because it's located very close to the bus and train station. This is very convenient as most busses for the national parks leave very early in the morning. The room was clean and in good condition. There's a restaurant that serves edible food. ||||Everything seemed great when we first arrived. However, there was a private party going on and the music got quite loud after 10pm, which is when the reception closes. This went on until around midnight. We had to get up very early to catch the bus, but at least we got a few hours of sleep. However, the next night (Saturday) was really unacceptable. There was another wedding in the reception hall. The music and screaming was so loud that our television couldn't drown it out. Midnight came, still the same level of noise. The noise was a little less at 3am, but still loud enough that I could still hear it clearly through earplugs. This went on until 530 in the morning. When I mentioned it to the staff the next morning, their reply was to shrug and say, "Yes, we know they were loud." I got the impression that this is how it usually is and people just accept it. If the 530am night had happened the night before our hike, it would have totally ruined our trip.||||I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants a good night's sleep. Very disappointing, because it's in a very convenient location and is otherwise a pleasant...

Unbelievable poor service, don't go there! We traveled July 14th 2017 from Budapest (Hungary) to Spartan Ultrabeast Valca (4 hour drive), had a comfirmed booking via email for 10(!) people for 2 nights. We arrived on Friday shortly before 20pm and there weren't any rooms free! The lady at the reception didn't speak English, called her boss who - as we later found out - said: they made a mistake, it happens, don't worry about it... No, it does not happen in normal places you idiot! As there was Spartan weekend the whole area in a 60 km radial was full booked, no place for 10 people. Finally a very nice local lady helped us to find some place to sleep at 22.30pm. Keep in mind: we had to get up on Saturday at 5am and do a 48 km spartan ultrabeast... Never ever go to this pension! I've just read some of the other reviews here. I don't really understand what the other people are complaining about. I was perfectly satisfied. I stayed there in December 2017. It is a perfectly clean, quiet guesthouse, with spacious rooms, good parking and wi-fi. I didn't eat there, but it's a guesthouse; it's not a hotel, that means that you just go there to sleep and you don't expect fine wines and dining in the evening. There are radiators in the room. If the room is cold, you just turn the radiator on. If you want a mini bar, go to a hotel. For the price, this is perfectly satisfactory...
