I am a solo traveler and stayed here for 5 nights. My bed was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The window in my room directly faced the balcony where people talked and smoked, so opening the window came with noise and stink. The chair is too low for the desk (or the desk is too high for the chair), so it was impossible to sit and use my computer or write something. I arrived on a Wednesday evening about 19:25. I had been travelling all day and hoped for a meal. I asked when the restaurant closed, and I was told 20:00. So I immediately asked for a table. I was told it was too late, because I would have only a few minutes to eat. (??) So I went into the town looking for another restaurant. I found nothing, so I returned (at 20:15) and asked if I could have a beer. No problem. I was seated outside and noticed people having dinner. At 20:30, they ordered dessert. I asked the waitress why I was denied dinner, when people were still eating. It was a staffing problem in the kitchen, she said.

On Friday, there was a printed flyer advertising live music and special food until 22:00. I arrived at 20:30 and was told that the kitchen was closing and that I must immediately order. So, I sat down with the menu. Then a waiter came and said there was a mistake and I was told the wrong thing, and that only pizza was available, and I must hurry with my choice because the kitchen was closing. So I ordered a pizza. Within 5 minutes a drunk man came to order some food and was told the kitchen was closed. So he came to my table and begged for my pizza. The restaurant staff did nothing to help me. The next night I came for a beer about 20:30. The look on the face of the waitress was a look I know well: "Please don't stay, I want to go home." I saw later why, because her boyfriend was waiting for her. On Sunday night, still determined to actually have a meal in this restaurant, I arrived at 18:30. My server this evening was the only person in the restaurant who ever smiled at me in 5 days. The food was awful (see mounds of rice in a bizarre sea of gravy), but at least the person was polite. And the beer is always good.

I noticed that the same wait staff worked breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It seems to me that they are tired and overworked. I wondered why I never felt welcome and I suppose it's because the people just wanted to go home.

The nicest employee in this establishment, by far, is the woman who cleans the rooms. She always greeted me with a smile, and asked if I needed something. I don't speak Slovak (only basic Czech) and she never scowled at me. I hope the management of the hotel recognizes that she is a wonderful employee.

The location of this hotel is really good, by the way. The view of the...

We stayed at Hotel Palatin during our short trip at Orava. I was surprised by some aspects of the room and a bit disappointed with others. The loft was humongous and had five beds and plenty of space and a nice semicircle window from which you could see Orava castle and the immediate vicinity of the area. The disappointing was the living room which consisted of one sofa and a table and two small feet stand things. For a family of four, there wasn’t enough space for us to comfortably sit anywhere. The kitchen was the second disappointing thing. There were four glasses, no washing basin, hardly any kitchen utilities. We had to use the bathroom to wash our things! But overall I really liked the apartment and it felt really spacious. I was also happy with the free Wifi because my data was running low. 😜 Unfortunately where my bad was located, the Wifi regularly disconnected and I had to move to another place with more stable wifi which was annoying. The buffet breakfast for me personally was ok but that’s because I don’t like eggs and a lot on their breakfast menu consisted of eggs but the majority of people would be really happy. There was also a nice selection of breads, spreads, beverages and...

Firstly it's not a hotel It's a guest house in witch you can hear everything from the rooms next door and everything from the restaurant. No hotel closes at 22:00 and opened at 08:00 No reception House keeping every second day. Witch is also just one girl doing the cleaning And the breakfast it's embarrassing If you stay more than 3 days you're portions are finished And if you're not early for breakfast the continental it's finished and they don't refill nothing, on top of that the so called continental breakfast it's quite embracing With cup cakes form Tesco. Overpriced for what it is . The staff looks very overworked But they do there best especially the manager I forgot her name but she...

Most importantly, the place was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very nice and accomodating. The location is excellent, both for the access to the Orava Castle, and to what I think is the center of the Oravsky Podzamok. Unfortunately, on the night of my stay there was a party at the establishment, with overwhelming subwoofer at wok, which prevented me from falling asleep until around 1 am. The hotel did however discount me on the grounds of this inconvenience, and regretted that it downgraded my experience. To that end I feel that the issue was settled, and compensated for. Except for that, in every other aspect of my stay I think that it was very good.
