Located in Ribno, 1.8kms from Bled, you will find the Chalet type Penzion. With no reception area, Mrs Krek will greet you to your room. We were given a room with a common balcony with the room next door. It was perfect as my stepdaughter was next door. The rooms were clean with dark wood antique furniture, a small bathroom. We stayed one week, apart from the room becoming quite hot at night, it was rather comfortable. With church bells ringing every hour, nice or rude awakening? I guess depending of your mood. Mrs Krek takes pride in her breakfast, and will make sure that your belly is full. A glass of orange juice waits for you at the table, a choice of a hot drink, some filled croissants or homemade cake, some fresh bread, ham/cheese/pâté, yogurt and of course eggs cooked to your liking. Down the road, on the left a good 15mns walk, you will find a river where the locals like to have a little swim. In Bled, take the boat to the inlet to visit the Church (€14 for boat €10 for church visit if desire). A little train goes round the lake for €5 per person, not too bad. The view from the castle is worth it, not much to see in the castle though. Parking is expensive but there's a car park behind the big Mercator (not the Mercator car park) that charges only 50cts an hour. In Triglav National Park, we walked the 5kms to the Gorje which was totally worth it. Bohinjsko (Vogel) cable car is a good way to see the breathtaking views of the Julian Alps. Ruska Kapelica - Chapel built in memory of the Russian soldiers who were prisoners during WW1. They built a long widing road to the top of the mountain on Kranksha Gora. They died in an avalanche. We very much enjoyed Slovenia. Hope you...

The lady at the front desk greeted us with the kind of enthusiasm one usually reserves for a root canal. Information about the stay? Nonexistent. We essentially had to navigate the experience as if it were some sort of escape room – only without any clues.
The state of the room was a masterclass in neglect. The bedding was dirty, the bathroom failed every basic hygiene standard, and the terrace had the distinct charm of an abandoned storage unit. Clearly, mops and brooms haven’t made an appearance here in quite some time.
And then came the “special service”: while we were away on day trips, staff entered our room twice. Not to clean, not to take out the trash – that would have been too much to ask. Instead, they managed to make the bed (still with the dirty sheets, naturally) and left fresh towels. As a bonus, they decided to move around some of our personal belongings, because why not add a sprinkle of unnecessary distrust to the experience?
Checkout was the cherry on top: no goodbye, no acknowledgment, no nothing. Just a curt instruction to hang the key on the rack. Guest experience completed,...
