We stayed in for 3 nights at Glamping Pibernik in April and had a lovely, relaxing time! We'd arranged to arrive a little early through the booking, com genuis perks and when we got there the cleaner was just finishing our room - we were shown where to go by a lady to pick up our keys from the front desk, as the owner was not in (she only spoke Slovenian & German but luckily my partner can speak some German!)||||The chalet itself is so cute and pretty and very clean - completely wooden throughout with a lovely big bed, chair, hanging closet space, outdoor kitchen area, BBQ area, outdoor loungers, kettle, breakfast bar & stools and a very well-equipped bathroom. There's also a large TV and nintendo! ||||We also met the local black & white cat who was very interested when we were making dinner :p||||The setting itself is extremely peaceful (apart from one time we heard 2 workmen arguing! And there was some work being done with a small bulldozer, although we were out of season in April so this was to be expected I guess).||||It's a good 20-25 minute walk to Bled & Lake Bled, up some rather steep roads and across a stunning open field where you have amazing views of the mountains. It is definitely walkable to Bled, although to go anywhere else (or to Lidl, for example) you would need a hire car. There don't seem to be any buses or public transport around the area as far as we could see, so don't rely on that either!||||We had an amazing 3 night stay in the chalet and would definitely recommend it - I guess it's not the cheapest place to stay, but it's very cool and quirky and worth it for a few nights.||||Great points:||Shower is amazing!! Peaceful location, good facilities, free parking (with no need to reserve) ||||Points for improvement:||There were only a few herbal teabags provided near the kettle and I was dying for a coffee! (on the way out, we realised there was a self-service bar inside the larger building, but we were not told about this and there was nothing in our room to let us know, so annoyingly we missed out)||||The outdoor kitchen is lovely to cook in, but attracts ants like crazy!! Don't leave out any food (not sure what they can do about this, but just a warning)||||There is a lovely outdoor BBQ to cook on, but there were no matches/kindling/coal/instructions provided for use - there was wood nearby but it was very large pieces and we weren't sure what we should do with those...||||There is cutlery and crockery provided in the kitchen, but it's a bit mis-matched and some things are not there. We would have loved some salt, pepper & oil provided too for cooking (we had to grab S&P sachets from McDonalds instead!)||||The place is very hands-off in terms of staffing - you are completely left alone and the only time we saw an owner is when we left. This is great for some peace of course, but we would have loved to meet them and be shown how to use the BBQ and where the...
Read moreI stayed within the main building, as there are apartments and chalets too. This place has a great deal of charm, and visitors will quickly note the Alpine styles in nearly every corner of this place, in fact it has been featured in films, and I can see why it might fit the look for a period piece.
My room was modern, and as I found throughout the facility, very clean. The staff were professional, and their standard of English was clear and reflected their generally helpful approach.
Housekeeping appears thorough, and the optional paid breakfast (which needs to be ordered by at least the night before) is of a good standard, with a wide choice of cold, and hot continental provisions, all on a self service basis.
There are other complimentary treats (fresh fruit, nuts, pretzels, biscuits and lollipops) close by the reception. Just across from the reception is a self-service bar. The set up with the bar requires the patron to record their purchase, be it alcohol, hot or cold bevarage, along with the price of their purchase, and a notation of your room number, which is then billed at the end of your stay.
The setting is secluded, in a clearing amidst wooded countryside. There are other free amenities, such as outside table tennis, and a swimming pool, though the latter was under cover during my visit.
It is only a short distance from both the town of Bled, and its Lake. Their three star rating perhaps puts them in an unsympathetic light, and it should not be a disincentive to your seriously...
Read moreWe spent a wonderful 5 days in the ‘superior chalet’. A great alternative to a mundane hotel room. The family-run site is perfectly set up for relaxing: table tennis, badminton, a plunge pool and many hammocks and chairs to relax in the beautifully maintained gardens. Even though the site was full we rarely saw anyone else- we felt like we had the place to ourselves. ||The superior chalet - the largest they offer - was just fantastic. A cute log cabin with all the amenities we needed (equipped kitchen, bathroom etc) and more (my boyfriend was very excited by the retro Nintendo console!). The cabin came with a fantastic outside area with terrace, loungers and a BBQ. Even in the 30+ heat the cabin remained a cool haven, and there was a large fan. ||Other facilities included self service tea, (good) coffee and cold drinks which you record in a little book. There is also a breakfast available for €9 but we opted to make our own and eat on our terrace. ||We had our own car which we were really grateful for. The site is located outside of main Bled town, about a 25 minute walk from Bled Lake. Usually it would be a pleasant walk but in the height of the summer walking that far to reach the lake was too hot. Be warned though... parking is at a premium in Bled. We generally spent our time at Lake Bohinj so having a car was vital for us. Pibernik does offer bike rental for €10 a day which might be an option for getting to town a bit quicker...
