Not the best but not the worst either.
I went during winter and here’s my point of view:
LOCATION: It’s super close to Vogel Ski Resort. And maybe 6-8 minutes drive to the Savica waterfall and literally in front of the lake. If you have a car everything is close. We went to town several times to eat dinner and it’s super fast.
PARKING LOT: they have and there’s a lot of spots to park and it’s free.
SERVICE: During my stay there were 2 women who were working there and both were amazing. They solved all my doubts and gave several tips about the area. You can get a free map and plan your hikes or rent snowshoes. They help with that.
HEATING: our room was pretty warm and heating worked perfectly.
WATER / SHOWER: excellent. shower was pretty hot. Towels included. That was nice.
BED: average single bed. Not too soft. Not too hard. Just OK. Bed sheets were clean. That’s was good. I slept well.
CLEANING: here’s what I didn’t like. Our bathroom wasn’t well cleaned. It was smelling a little bad. Even the bathroom in the reception area wasn’t good. They should work better with that.
BUILDING: they have no elevators. It’s all stairs.
NOISE: sometimes at night we could hear other people talking / laughing or coughing in the other rooms.
BREAKFAST: I liked it. I’m easy going. Not hundreds of options but you can make yourself a sandwich with cheese/salami and heat up. Coffee comes from a coffee machine and it wasn’t good. They have Nutella and other fruit jellies. There were 2 types of bread. Apple juice also comes from a machine as well.
WASHER / LAUNDRY : one wash is 4€ and one dry is also 4€. You get a coin at the reception and it’s an automatic machine. You don’t add detergent. I liked it. It washes for about 55 minutes and dries for about 1h15.
PRICE: I guess it might be the cheapest in the area. But overall I think it was a OK from what they’re offering.

Read moreRooms: old furniture, but clean and renovated. We loved the colorful walls in the bigger building. The stairs in the building are indeed lousy, and since the place is also a kind of centre for sports activities, it can get loudier. But in fact when we are on holidays we do lots of activities and we always sleep like babies, so that really did not bothered us. True that if would be greaylt to have some little soap for hands at least, towels and sheets were nice and clean.|Sports: We rented a canoe, grrat experience, but perhaps we could hear a bit more instructions about how to use paddles and some safety tips or so. We had our bikes with us and we can reccomend cycling through thr Voje valley. Free and stunning! |Breakfast: coffee is horrible (sorry guys, but I am a coffee lover:)), breakfast is continental ane simple, not too diverse, but totally doable. You can also bring your own food, but since we have paid for the breakfast, we wanted more. They run out of fruit quite fast so that is a minus, because otherwise evreything is quite "dry". I think if you could add simple yoghurts and some boiled eggs you would make a great difference with little investment.|Stuff & general: nice, simple, chatty, we just didt like the prices going up-since we have bought coffee from the bar, the coffee went up for 0.20€. Not a problem to pay but just..really, that much for a coffee from a hostel bar? Nothing special, really. I can understand that you have a nice location, but if you can offer something more for that money, just dont raise the price, simple economy.|!!!! Important: when you want to cross the road to reach the lake side, there is a road turn and you dont see the cars coming! If you will make a cross-walk (pedestrian) to make it safe for your guests to cross the nontransparent road, only then the bar-prices going up...
Read moreAs someone else wrote, mixed feelings. The good first - definitely the location, and the friendly, helpful staff. The ok - breakfast. Others have written negatively on the breakfast provided, but I can't really understand why. Yes, the coffee is not great, but there's espresso (etc.) offered for a very reasonable price. And it's the only place we stayed that offered anything else than plain white bread! However, as mentioned by another guest, margarine doesn't quite cut it - butter would be preferable. Nonetheless, there's 3 different pates, something akin to ground pork, cold cuts, sliced cheese, hummus (perhaps on request, as i did?), jams, chocolate spread, orange juice, teas, modest fresh fruit offerings, granola, and vegan milk as well as the "real" stuff. In the "ok" category: the double room with ensuite bathroom. A bit small, but functional, and for soft beds I was surprised that I felt cocooned and comfortable (over 5 nights). There's also a large lounge area and a separate room with a half-size billiard table and fussball - but the balls for billiards are mixed sets and there's no white ball. In the not so good, keep in mind that if you visit in winter, there's only skiing and hiking - no watercraft or bicycles are available to rent. And that applies to everywhere around the lake, apparently, which is definitely strange... The hostel lies a 2 km (or maybe a little less) from several restaurants around the east end of the lake, which are well worth eating at if you have the €€ - the hostel sometimes offers lunch and/or dinner if it has a large group, but at €15 it may be worth exploring further afield. When you check in (in winter, anyway) you will receive a free bus pass for the local area, including to...
