This is one of those places that quietly gets everything right. It strikes the perfect balance between traditional stone-built heritage, working vineyards, and modern comforts. Add to that some soul food kissed by a perfect microclimate - somewhere between the crisp Slovenian hills and the pine-scented Adriatic breeze - and you’re in for something special.

You’ll read glowing reviews praising the breakfast, the pool, the peace, the hills, the food. But somehow, no one quite spells out what might be its greatest asset: the location. In one direction, you’ve got the dramatic river cliffs of what might just be Europe’s most beautiful river. In the other, a 15-minute bike ride drops you into the heart of Italian Gorizia, sipping espresso and Aperol spritz like a local. Then it’s back to Slovenia for dinner in a historic castle with a wine list longer than the EU’s trade agreements. And if you’re feeling adventurous the next day, there are centuries-old quirks and mansions to explore - places so ancient, they still haven’t set up Wi-Fi hotspots.

But really, why rush anywhere at all? There’s a pool under an olive tree, bugs and birds performing a live concert, and breakfast - featuring local delicacies you suspect were harvested, cured, and air-dried within shouting distance - still making you smile at noon.

Unser Aufenthalt im Guest House Valentinčič war hervorragend. Wir hatten ein Apartment für vier Personen gebucht, das sehr gut ausgestattet war und in dem wir uns sofort wohlgefühlt haben.

Das ganze Anwesen ist wunderschön gestaltet, und wir haben viel Zeit am tollen Pool verbracht. Besonders praktisch war die Outdoorküche, in der wir uns selbst Gerichte zubereiten konnten. Außerdem gibt es einen Weinkühlschrank mit Weinen aus eigener Herstellung, die man für 10€ pro Flasche entnehmen kann. Eis und Gläser sind ebenfalls vorhanden.

Die Eigentümer sind äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, was unseren Aufenthalt noch angenehmer gemacht hat. Ein Tag haben wir das Frühstück in Anspruch genommen, das für 9€ pro Person angeboten wird.

Wir können eine Radtour durch die Weingebiete der Region und bis zur Grenze nach Italien wärmstens empfehlen. E-Bikes kann man bei Roc leihen, was wir ebenfalls getan haben.

Fußläufig sind zwar nicht viele Restaurants in der Nähe, aber direkt gegenüber am Campingplatz gibt es eine wirklich fantastische Küche!

Kostenlose und überdachte Parkplätze sind ebenfalls vorhanden.

Insgesamt hatten wir eine wunderbare Zeit und können das Guest House Valentinčič nur...

The service here was not only poor but the noise from the cars on street made it impossible to sleep. The manager was unfriendly, rude and insisted that we had "accidentally" booked two rooms and "offered" us a "discount"... avoid this place...
