My girlfriend and I were in somewhat of a pickle: we were staying in a winemaker’s guest house, but the nearest restaurant was 2.5 kilometres away, which meant we were torn between drinking wine and eating dinner (as we had a rental car as our only means of transportation).
That was until it turned out the neighbouring B&B also served food to non-guests, which immediately solved our dilemma. I’m not one to write reviews - either negligent or simply forgetting to do so -, but I’m just halfway through the 4-course dinner (which was priced at a measly €27!!!) and already decided these people deserve nothing but the best coming to them.
The hosts are incredibly friendly, which was emphasised by their equally lovely Border Collie called Lola. The wine, made from grapes growing just across the street, was exquisite. The views - from the sun setting over the rolling hills of Slovenia’s wine capital, to the carefully thought-out atmosphere of the dining terrace - were absolutely amazing. And then there’s the food… it’s hard to remain unbiased when all of the above comes together to create the perfect dining experience. But it’d be equally difficult to deny that the food was anything short of perfect.
Rarely have I felt less embarrassed to lick every droplet of juice from my plate. Never have I felt as guilty for not having booked an overnight stay somewhere - even if it were only to see what breakfast was like, to dabble some more in the wholesome atmosphere created by the hosts or to stare a little deeper into Lola’s loving eyes. A return to Slovenia was definitely on the cards, but tonight will long live to be the reason I fell in love with...
Read moreWow wow wow - what a find. We stumbled upon this place by luck, perhaps fate. Although we only spent 1 night, we wish we had longer to explore the local area and get to know the family hosts better.
The best part was choosing to have supper, which was homecooked traditional food made by our host, served with their own wine made onside. AMAZING! Reasonably priced and a fantastic introduction to Slovenian food, culture and hospitality.
The facilities were spotless and everything was clean, tidy and elegant.
I would give 5 stars, but the only draw back is the plots are not properly spaced out/marked out. When we arrived there were just a few vans so we had a lot of space, but when we came back from supper more vans had arrived and even though there was a lot of space they could have parked in a different area - but I guess everyone wants a space facing the vineyard and they parked either side of us leaving us barely enough room to get in our van, plus one of the vans was a group of people playing music and cooking outside, which ruined the peacefulness of our stay.
But perhaps this was also a little bad luck. Overall we loves the site and would definitely return, perhaps we will make an awning or mark out a better space so we don't get squashed in again (we're just a small van).
Thanks...
Read moreWow what a amazing campsite!! & the lovely large pool is great!level gravel pitches with water at each electric point, The lady on reception is really nice & helpful, the toilets & showers are new, modern & very clean and free 👌and the whole campsite is well kept! There is a restaurant on site, which we eat at and the food was lovely, the only thing was, we didn't know what was on the menu until we sat in the restaurant and we didnt know the price until we checked out 2 days later, think it would be better to put a menu board with the prices on too (as I only eat fish or chicken, so I need to make sure this is on the menu before hand) but as I said the food was great 👍and would...
