BEARLOG HOSTEL — Hotel in Kočevje

We had a very fun and interesting day tour with Tomaž, exploring the local area, tracking bears and wolves. |Just the right amount of walking for the kids and s well as the beautiful views and awe inspiring environment, some highlights were:|- seeing fresh bear and deer tracks |- seeing recent wolf tracks|- checking out the footage from a hidden wildlife camera showing bears, deer, boars, owls, chamonix, badgers and foxes from the previous nights footage |-a beautiful locally sourced lunch at a nice viewpoint (and a beer for the parents!)|-a walk on the the white tailed eagle trail learning about this fantastic bird of prey||Tomaž was an informed and caring guide and a lovely guy to spend a few...

Bearlog is a really nice and small hostel for 30 peoples. Hostel is located in the city center of Kocevje near main market or church and has a different combinations of rooms with private bathroom or with a bathroom in the corridor. One room in the ground floor is appropriate for disabled guest too and it has his own bathroom. Staff is really nice and helpfull, especially PR woman Tina who was our host. Rooms are large, well equipped with wide bed and two towels are included. Every room have it own lockers for each guest besides the bed and large wardrobe too. Hostel has a self dining breakfast with a lot of food (local) to choose. We have spent such a lovely and nice time staying there. Enjoy...

Wir waren uns zuerst nicht sicher, ob wir doch besser im Norden in der Nähe vom Triglav Nationalpark eine Unterkunft hätten aussuchen sollen, weil Kocevje irgendwie schon etwas abgelegen erschien von diesen Touri-Hotspots. Doch genau diesen Fakt genossen wir schlussendlich am meisten. Der Tourismus in der "Kočevsko" Region ist jung, dynamisch und vor allem herzlich.||||Im Hostel fühlten wir uns vom ersten Moment an wohl. An der Reception bekamen wir wertvolle Tipps, in der hauseigenen Bibliothek fanden wir wunderbare slowenische Reiseführer - und dieses kleine Städtchen und die gesamte Region sind noch nicht vom Massentourismus überwuchert, sondern schön authentisch.||||Das Hostel vermittelt auch lokale Guides - wir profitierten bereist am 1. Tag davon, was unsere beste Entscheidung war, denn so tauchten wir sofort richtig in die Umgebung ein. Unser Guide Martin hat eine Leidenschaft für seine Herkunft und hat uns in fliessendem Deutsch spannende Inputs zur Natur, Kultur und Politik des Landes gegeben. Unter anderem hat er uns Lust gemacht Bären in der freien Natur zu beobachten - deshalb werden wir uns das nächste Mal bei ihm wohl für ein "Bear-watching" anmelden.||||Übrigens - der einzige Nachteil dieses Örtchens sind aktuell die ÖV Verbindungen. Noch fährt nur ein Bus nach Kocevje - doch bald soll die Zuglinie wieder aktiviert werden. Mit dem Bus kommt man regelmässig und ohne Probleme in die Hauptstadt, doch andere spannende Orte sind leider schwer erreichbar. Wir empfehlen dem Hostel "Car-Sharing" in der Region bekannt zu machen (z.B. wie "Sharoo" in der Schweiz). Somit könnten Anwohnerinnen Touristinnen ihre Autos ausleihen und nebenbei ein kleines...
