The refuge has all the necessary facilities: bathrooms, sheets, blankets, etc. The price per night is a bit high, but it is understandable considering its location (literally next to the top of Triglav, only an hour's walk away). There is a bar and a restaurant that has everything you need to meet any needs you may have. Here the prices are very high, but you have to bear in mind that they have to bring all the products and the employees up to 2,400 meters high and that, logically, is not cheap. The views from the rooms, and in general from all the windows of the refuge, are simply impressive. The place where the refuge is located takes your breath away, even looking like the surface of the Moon. From here you can enjoy incredible views. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you in any way they can. There are usually quite a few people, but the atmosphere is very good and everyone is always willing to help you or give you advice. It is important to note that there are no showers, so you have to take this into account, but it is possible to manage. In my opinion it is the refuge that is most worthwhile because you are next to the top of Triglav and in general the amenities are enough to spend a good night (although it is true that if people are noisy you will notice it). Again, the price per night is high, but I think it's...
Read moreA pretty big lodge very near to the top of Triglav. The views are breathtaking, sunset is gorgeous and the milky way can be seen on a clear night. There are plenty of food options, including vegetarian ones. Half board (€50) includes dinner and breakfast. Overall hygiene could (and should) improve. Floors are wet and the entire subterranean level smells like a clogged loo. The toilets don’t flush (for lack of sewerage, I guess). Beware there are no showers or drinkable tapwater available. (There is non-drinkable (cold) tap water). Bunk beds are small (80cm), the top bed has no flange to keep you from falling out. Sheets are available for no extra charge. Climbing gear (helmet, harness, via ferrata set) can be rented for a small fee (€9), and could be of use for climbing the rest of Triglav.
In August, when we visited, the lodge was pretty packed. The...
Read moreAfter our hut tour through the Julian Alps, we were sure that this hut was by far the worst. The staff were very rude, the sanitary facilities were in poor condition, there was mold everywhere on the ceiling and the pungent smell from the toilets even reached the dining room. Unfortunately, there is no drinking water, except for bottled water that can be bought at the bar (€6.00) and body washing is prohibited. Although the sanitary facilities are poor, you are asked to pay to use the toilet (€1.00). The dining tables in the dining room are all very sticky, which made playing cards difficult and basically doesn't leave a good feeling when sitting at the table. Unfortunately, you are allowed to walk through the entire area of the hut in hiking boots, which affects the basic cleanliness of the hut. The only thing we can recommend is the food, which we...
